Forecast looks a lil sketchy for Saturday, but that's what they said for today too... only had a passing shower where we were...not too bad otherwise...sure cooled down though!
NE of us looks like a bunch of snow falling. Also just a very small patch in the UP that shows rain, ice and snow. I guess we could agree fall is here.
Had a mild frost last night / this morning. We had a fire last night and I was out to 2:30 am, practice for this weekend coming up. It was cold, windy, and rain on and off till about 4 pm.
Is anyone interested in purchasing this saw? If yes I'll bring it with. $100. I rebuilt the carb, did a muffler mod, timing advance and base gasket delete. It has zero scoring in the cylinder. The piston did have some vertical scratches on the intake side below the ring. Nothing major.
Sorry to say, Holly and I won't be making it out there. Truck is still MIA.. or PITA.. depending on perspective. Mechanic had it 2 weeks.. couldn't solve the issue.. but I have a new fuel pump now. He decided it was fuse block corrosion.. said it's a $500 dealer item.. shut him down right then. Got a good used one from the junkyard.. didn't fix it.. ordered new ECM.. waited weeks for that.. didn't fix it.. but reduced it to "Engine power reduced" and stabilitrack/traction control codes. Online search suggested throttle position sensor.. Nope. I hope the dealer can figure out the problem without undue Either way.. I don't see it fixed and trustworthy by Friday AM. EDIT.. Coworker loaned me a vehicle so I didn't have to keep Enterprise in business single handedly. I guess I've been spoiled.. I haven't drove a hoopy of this level in nearly 35 years. But I am thankful to him for the loaner.
I'm sorry, hope this isn't your buddy, cuz this guy is not a mechanic, he (she?) is just a parts changer...you need a real mechanic, someone that specializes in troubleshooting/diagnostics...not every shop has one, but there's usually a few around most areas. GLWT! And hope to see ya next time!
Yeah.. I've known him most all my life.. decent guy, good mechanic for most things.. this was just "above his pay grade" so to speak. At least he did cut me a huge break on his labor/troubleshooting time. Pretty much charged me for non-refundable parts.. ie.. fuel pump, plugs, wires.. and very minimal labor. I know he did have many hours in it. He doesn't have all the high tech troubleshooting equipment.. so I guess I shoulda known better.
Wish the heck I knew where to start.. I've got both. Heck.. I contemplated buying a 79 Olds gutless off of FBM. At least I know how to work on that. Just noticed it "auto-corrected" Cutlass to gutless. Edit.. brenndatomu here's the ad..
All you need is a good wiring diagram and the experience to read it (and know what is supposed to be where when) and you could likely figure it out...or sometimes some models will have a reputation for having a bad ABC when they have XYZ problem...a google search will turn those up occasionally. A reliable '79 gutless is worth a hundred 2023's "in the shop"! They are proud of that one though! (but if it actually has 300 miles on it, then )
