I bought my Galaxy S5 off of Ebay as a refurb just 6 months after they came out. Paid half the price of a new phone, and it is still going strong since fall of 2014.

While l agree with most of your points about the couple year old phones being able to mostly do what the new flagship phones can, they don't do all that the new flagship phones can, and certainly not as fast.

Some people may call some of the things the new phones can do "gimmicks" but if you actually use those features, they are not gimmicks anymore.

Totally true, it all depends on what you really want your phone to do. Give me a decent camera, good amount of storage space and battery that can last over 12 hours and I'm sold. My S7 Active does all of that. My wife has the S8 and I don't see anything better about it besides the camera!

 

I was getting a new low end samsung today while another customer was there to see about upgrading to the new S10. One of the "selling points" from the store employee was that the new phone has 5 cameras.
Huh? One on the front and one on the back seems fine to me.

 

I have the first 5 camera phone, the LG v40. Now there's a 6 camera phone that was just released, that Nokia has. The different cameras can take all sorts of pictures, at the same time on mine. Different cameras see different things depending on how close or far away they are. Who knows, maybe Sasquatch will show up and get discovered while going for a walk?

 

I'll be the type to lag behind all the latest cell technology hype because honestly I'm just too cheap when it comes to phones plus eventually those will become the $100 phones of yesteryear.

 

Mother in law has Moto Z. Good phone, Can get camera attachment for Z phone. I have Turbo2. I like it, great camera.
