Micro SD card slots (and now 'nano SD') on most of the models, none with removable batteries that I've found. My first smartphone had a removable battery and I purchased extras. HTC Evo. Was a good phone, but only 16G memory, which isn't much after the onboard apps and bloatware take half.

That's why Moto and nokia are good, almost pure Android. Aka pretty much no bloatware to slow the phones down.

I'm going to be in the market again soon, replaceable battery is at the top of my list as well.
The latest samsungs don't appear to have that feature anymore from what I can tell. But those are out of your/my budget anyway.
I try and keep my phones around 100. I have a samsung On5 currently but will need to replace it soon due to touch screen damage.
Honestly though, I've had it for at 2 years I think and the battery is still going strong.
I do like nokia's but it's only nokia in name anymore.

It's HMD global, for Nokia. The great news is that a bunch of ex Nokia engineers and employees are at HMD global.

Regarding replacement batteries, you can replace them, even if they are not easily replaceable. It's not really a big deal as long as it can be done. You really might only be needing to ever replace a battery once in a phone. After that, the phone will be done, one way or another. I got 4 years out of my Moto X 2014, on the original battery.

There's repair kits to replace the screen and the battery for several Motorola's, with factory parts. .iFixit is now selling parts straight from Motorola

It's actually a big thing, that Motorola will allow you to do it yourself.

That is what I have. I am doing just fine with mine.
if you liked your phone, there are shops around here who advertise they will replace batteries etc. That should cost a whole lost less. Just call your carrier and make sure that you phone won't soon be fazed out.

I'm still getting by fine with S5. Probably wouldn't work if I tried to change carriers - or at least some of their promo materials say that you need a newer phone for their plans. That's okay, I'm good with the carrier I've had since late '90's

My wife's phone is a tracfone from Walmart. I think the cost was $95.00 an LG. we pay $25 every two months for service. She is a very light user. The phone has all the horns and whistles I can think of. I think for normal use, look to Consumer Cellular. They have the very best reviews.

I saw a youtube video a while back that showed how to unlock the samsung s5. I didn't try it. I have an s5 and an s7 with US cellular. Both still in excellent condition. Whenever it does start acting slow, I know there is malware on board so I do a factory reset. Easy to do and recover from. Just drop your pictures in the cloud, ck google for contacts and make sure it is current with the phone before you reset the phone, Then go back to Google once you have reset the phone an enter you google account and there it is. Back on line and up and running.

I have a Galaxy S9 on T Mobile. I usually never buy the most current phone. I normally will buy the S7 when the 9 comes out, but my S3 died the day before the S9 came out, and the sale price made it almost the same price as the S7. It's not a lease, it's a purchase with payments strung out for 24 months at 0% interest. Didnt make sense to pay the same money up front.

I do hate this new setup though. I used to buy my Blackberries for under $1 with a 2 year contract. I think it was the last one I bought, it set me back 1 cent!

Update: Went with a Motorola MotoZ3 Play. Had spec'd a G6, but retailer was out of stock on 64gig. I got the free battery pack in the deal, but spent $100 more on the Z3.

Seems to be a decent phone thus far. Figuring out all the new gizmos and whatnot. Some stuff I like, some I don't. Will say this...my old phone never had 2 commercials on it before a youtube video...my resistance to the updates must have been paying off.  There are some weird attachments that can be mounted to the phone instead of the extra battery pack...a projector? WTH? There are some speakers and fancy cameras also available, but I will likely not be getting any of that stuff as its not of much use to me.

moto z³ play - beyond the everyday

Thankfully, sometime in my early 30s I woke up and understood that I shouldn't be toiling for others' approval (seeking positive reaction for physical possessions). Frankly, we all like to have nice things, but you have to ask yourself if you are wanting/buying those nice things in order to gain approval from others or for self satisfaction. I'm just done trying to impress anyone via material goods, I guess. It is not an arena where I have sufficient means to 'compete' and I'm fine with that. Some folks judge themselves based upon what they have vs what others have...a bad way to live life and a sure way to never be satisfied therein.

Good deal. Have you used the Moto actions yet? The double chop to try the flashlight on is the bomb, and the double wrist twist to turn the camera on is awesome.

My first gen Moto X introduced me to the quick access camera function. I got out of the habit when I had the HTC. Kind of makes you wonder why all of the phones don't have these features? They all have accelerometers and gyros in them AFAIK?
