I'll welcome help doing it those chunks of oak weigh a lot. Also those shavings are from several other massive oaks logs too. Its not all from yesterdays cutting.
I was very lucky to grab one of those at the Hy Vee up the street from me a couple years back.Last one in their display case too Around $7 if I remember.
The glass was around $7,Hy Vee normally has at least 2-3 of the 6 varieties of Ayinger on their shelf most of the time.Between $3-4 a 16.9 oz (half litre) bottle last I remember. I have all 6 empty bottles lined up on one end of mantle,if I wasn't so lazy tonight I'd go snap a photo lol..... But I'll think of it one of these days.Might be some other stuff in the photo,I wont move everything round just for a ''perfect'' pic, since I'm not sellin' nothin'
I am tending to agree with you, it just seems like more work bending/ squatting down noodling, then just busting them open with a couple of wedges, but then there are some gnarly pieces that need to be sawed up
This seems to be true of most German hefes. I've taken to domestics since they're fresh. There are some pretty good ones.
