So this crossed over into blacksmithing, metal work again. Wife wanted another shelf in the kitchen but also wanted the cast iron to hang under it. IMG_20200802_134112868.jpg

The Mrs. wanted some fall weather cooking... 3 hours of simmering in the oven was hard to deal with.

    Angus beef fell apart.

Apple cinnamon muffins and pan-fried kielbasa in a maple syrup reduction. Syrup was made right here fro our trees last winter. Sweet, salty smokey kielbasa.

ok guys, I'm struggling to find info on a Griswold.
    I found a #7 Griswold small logo. Block letters. Id #701 E.
    #7 on top of handle
    Triangle on bottom of handle.
It's in great shape, smooth flat bottom, looks to be used very little.

I can't find it in the Book though.
Found 2 similar on the ebay priced $60 and $90

Guy was asking $25 and i hit him with $20. I know it's worth the 20, but can't find much else.

What say you, cast iron hoarders?

Try this resource. There is a whole bunch of info there (no suggested prices though) such as: "A paradox exists between the logo as most commonly seen incribed [sic] on the cookware and that seen on Griswold printed publications such as catalogs, bulletins, and on letterhead. In print, the tips of the cross are closed by straight lines, whereas on the cast iron, it is the inside circle which forms the boundaries."

Usually I figure those small logo Griswolds are from around the 40s give or take. Not the mot collectible but I really like my #5 from that era. I feel like the thickness of the iron is perfect - Thin, but not as thin as my Erie which can actually heat up too much even on my stove's lowest setting.

Pan-fried blueberry cakes in the Griswold Iron Mountain pan. Low heat. House maple syrup. I wish I had some bacon.

I tried Johnny cakes first. Not a fan. Maybe finer milled cornmeal would have helped. First time making these, so I could have botched it up from the get go.

I believe I have a 7" damper somewhere. I may need an 8" if they make one. These will go on the wall in November.

There is a Griswold mailbox that shows up on FB marketplace every few weeks. I guess they cast mailboxes too?

Pan-fried sausage and gravy. Baked in the oven for the roll topping. Used the Iron Mountain pan again.
