Scrap yard find today. Jotul cast iron Krumkake maker. Not rare at all, but this will be fun to use this winter on the stove top. Hot cakes with syrup next to the stove with coffee. The other pan is a 6 1/2" size 3. Unmarked, but made in the USA. It looks just like my larger one. This one looks machined on the inside as it is real smooth. I need to do some more cleaning but my wire wheel is down to nothing. Not a bad grab for a ten clams. A local picker store had some cast pots without lids so I passed on those.
Some of you may have noticed I haven't been on the forum for the last week, It's because I was up in New Hampshire land shopping!!! The wife and I met NH Mountain man and his wife! Super cool folks! So it wouldn't be a trip with out a couple of antique store stops and some yard sales. Didn't find much but what I did find is a couple nice pieces… The 5qt pot, didn't have the lid but it is when the Wagner ware and Griswold companies merged so it's kinda rare. The #8 skillet is a unmarked "ERIE", quite old!!! I haven't dated it yet but in super shape. After some haggling I got both for $40.00 The Antique stores are catching on the the cast iron $$$, Everyone now has internet and e-bayI asked one guy if he would take gold rubles for one pan It was soooooooooo over priced.
Jon, I believe what you have is an unmarked "Wagner ware". They made them like that and sold them in a lot of big box stores "way back" such as Woolworths, Montgomery wards and Sears.
Good info Dave. I like the smaller ones to fit in the mud oven. If I can get 3 or four pans in there baking this fall, I'll be happy. I'll find a lidded pot for chicken stew, the small pans for sweet potatoes and pan rolls. I think you'll like NH, pretty easy going folks, beautiful area, great highway systems. Depending where you settle, only a short ride to the mountains or seacoast.
And....... another member just bought a house up there...... (That's why there hasn't been any wood working in almost a year)
Looked,……… ………. was hoping to find the perfect spot but it didn't materialize. Got a realtor on the case! It'll come!
I have an abundance of # 3's and some #4's. If you want some just yell! I will give you what I got into them and some of them are in superior shape.
No problem!!! Tell me what you want/need and I will get them out to you! I have some "NICE" (BSR) #3's are "GREAT" for the oven, they are heavier than the Griswolds and for your use would fit perfect. The handles are beefier and a little shorter. I find them around here a lot, they were popular in the 50's and 60's. I have some Wagner's as well but we'll go according of what you want and I'll snap some pics and you decide
WONDERFUL SCORE! You may be able to find the weighted gauge online (vs dial) it is the "rattle" type, which I find are a bit easier to maintain the pressure. (I swapped the one out on my AA915 Canner.)
Nice score and great price on the pressure canner. That is on my radar for canning soups this winter.
Nice one. I have one identical to it. the weighted guages are available on-line but I haven't gone that route yet. I just stay very close to the pressure cooker when there is heat under it.
