Is squeezing things painful or just “loaded” wrist motions?

    Both.

many moons ago, I had a broken Scaphoid from a common fall. Like most, it was never recognized and treated as a "sprain".

It has since progressed into arthritis and carpal tunnel.

My orthopedic doctor has given the wonderful news that I WILL have a prosthetic wrist some day when it no longer responds to treatment.

reduced flexibility, loss of grip strength, swelling, pain are the most prominent symptoms.

To open a regular door, I have to press with my closed fist because pushing with an open palm is impossible. And I get yelled at for pushing that way by people because they think I am punching doors etc. I have started to use cordless ratchet wrenches because a manual one is impossible.

Had the procedure yesterday am. Everything went fast and well. Today have more discomfort than any real pain unless I make the wrong move. Then I am reminded very quickly to go easy. They gave me some high power opiate pain killers but Tylenol seems to be working fine! I can't stand opiates because they make me feel creepy and have bad side effects (makes me feel like a broke down cement truck stuck in the hot sun with a 9 yard load of quick set concrete onboard!).:bug: Hope things keep improving from here. If this is all the worse it gets then I can't wait to get the right wrist done!:)

Its weird how opiates impact people differently. My and two of my siblings get all wacky on even just a small amount. My dad, myself, and one other sibling all need more than what is prescribed as a dose and a touch of alcohol to get much of anything from them.
    Good luck on your recovery.
