Some companies will fix a chip without a deductible, not a w/sh replacement but unless the policy reads 500 deductible with no deductible for glass you would likely have a deductible for both. I agree get a price on the w/sh before you even report a claim for that and also if it is less than the deductible then wait until you get it to the body shop and ask them to see if they can get you a good deal on w/sh as most have a glass company they use all the time so they can probably get you a good deal.
My Duramax goes into the shop this weekend to get the door fixed next week, windshield was not covered but I will get it replaced soon too. I've been using the old Blazer lately anyway, it sits infront of the house and is toasty warm from the sun when I get in We have made one single insurance claim in the last 3 decades, hail damage to roof at our previous home. Far out I have two this year, both the truck door caught by wind and the 16' slider door wall (that burst the closer small window) from the tiny tornado (micro burst) to insurance. Glad to get them both fixed.
Truck home, door fixed, looks great Had the body shop do the windshield too, $80 more there than at the dealer, but factor in additional trips and time & gas to and from town, I asked them to do it while it was there. There was a defective/second/whatever windshield put in when we bought it, almost the entire middle of the line of sight was kinda like a distorting circus mirror, glad that is gone!! 16' slider from micro tornado claim is not going so good, knowledgeable persons not willing to come up here from Colorado, we are kinda stuck, its beyond the two glass/window companies in town.
