We use the log rites at work for rolling poles and turning them once set. They are nice tools. We used to have wood handled ones made by Oshkosh they were nice but the handles are a bit bulky. The log rite should hold up for a long time. The only one I've seen break was because it got ran over and the crew I was one was notoriously hard on stuff. The wood handles that's another story.

You can't beat buying direct from Peavey.

Love my 60" Logrite cant hook. If you feel the need to switch between cant hook and peavey, all you have to do is punch out a spring pin. And if you break the hook or point, they are easily replaceable. The handle has a lifetime warranty, but I don't ever see it breaking with intended use. I'm a big guy, and have used it on a lot of monster oak rounds. If I haven't broke it yet, I ain't gonna.

I had both in my hands at the same time, and really liked the feel of the aluminum handle better.

Guess it's not recommended for two or three guys to get on the handle of the Oshkosh.

Yes, you can always choke up on the handle but having a shorter handle also makes the handle less bulky for those who have problems with the fat handles on the longer canthooks.

You should be able to adjust that hook so it bites. Also it pays every so often to sharpen the hook.

While working out in the winter, logs, down trees, rounds whatever are stuck frozen down and a cant hook just makes it easy peasy, much better than beating on them with a sledge hammer

Agreed which is why mine is 3', but I still choke up on it sometimes which is why I don't like metal handled cant hooks of any length.

Yeah, I've never bothered to waste my time or oxy/acetylene to fix it. The Stihl unit is just so much better so I use that one.
Its about #875634 on the chit to do list.
