We call them hobo pies. Can put just about any kind of filling inside that you want. A popular one was hobo pizza. 10-15 slices of pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, cheese, and sauce between 2 slices of bread. Pretty tasty
Get a bag of mixed mini candy bars for the s'mores. We do this and each kid can customize a s'more to themselves. I am a traditionalist Hershey, grand daughter is a cookies n cream Hershey bar kid, Mama Bear is a reese's cup fan and one kid is a snickers junkie.
They were know as mountain pies in my neck of the woods. Used to love them but I bet its been 40 years since I had one.
Curious, how did the campfire work out ? Did you win the kid over or just come off as some creepy old dude ?
Didn't need to win the kid over but of course, she really liked the campfire! Toasted her own marshmallows for smores. Did not want hot dogs (???) roasted over the fire. Was only after the sweet stuff I guess! Wasn't even interested in fooling around in the flames with a poker (thank goodness, as it never seems a good idea)
Here is a pic of the fire ring we made for the company. It is still in use as recent as yesterday. The large rock you see between the pit and the lake was dragged out of the lake by us two. The ice had moved it and deposited it almost smack dab in the middle of that swim/launch area you see in the pic! It is now back along the shoreline where it belongs!
