Ralphie Boy, as Dave said, it seems to me you had something like this happen a few years ago. Terrible...

That is not the kind of news I like to read on a Monday morning. Sorry this happened.

That is awful. Hard to imagine the water that deep. Those splits are way up in the tree. Any damage to the rest of the property?

I have a 14 cord stack and I’d be gutted if it disappeared. It also reminds of the Peter Gabriel song “Shaking the Tree”
I have seen firsthand the power and devastation of water. Sorry for your loss of treasure. :emb:

Yep but only lost about 1/2 cord after I rounded up the loose pieces. That was maybe 2018.

Nope. I got the tractor and splitter out and on my covered porch before we left. My house and the rest of my property is way up on a hillside. My driveway hits 21% grade! Which is why my wood is stacked at the far end of the 50 year flood level, it's the only flat ground I have.

Someone needs to teach you to stack on a hill!! We string pallets across the grade and a bit downhill. Strong foundation on blocks. The slope of the stacks helps the water flow off the metal roofing on top. once the blocks are in place I just need to replace the pallets every 10 years or so. So they are good for 2 cycles of stacking. I’m sure your terrain is steeper than mine. But you could make it work.

Thanks for posting this. I just couldn't seem to remember what the loss was that time but I do remember you saved most of it. It does not appear you will save this year's. Cut up the oak then go for a nice bike ride.

Relatable. Have some acreage, but not much of it is flat.
