I agree. Our 04 sportsman 500HO is still on the original belt. Put it in low, and you can move just about anything.

Conversely, there's been a lot of problems with Honda's "automotive style" transmission on Rincons that doesn't have a belt.

You guys must not put a lot of miles on. I make it a point to change the belt out every 2,000 miles or so. I've never had one break either though. My buddy lost one on his 2016 Yamaha Viking last summer with only 2,000 miles on it. When they go they can make a MESS. When I ride in the summer I carry two extras as well as the necessary tools to do the swap on the trail if need be.

I haven’t been in here for awhile so this is late... but I had to say that those Polaris trailers are the bomb! And you have the deluxe tandem model you dog! I’m sooo jelous! Mine is 10 years old now but it’s a the bigger one but a single axle type with the optional metal fence like you also have.

Late here...but I have a 1989 Honda 300trx. There one of the best made. They basically made the same model for like 12 years unchanged. I like it, it's light, can go almost anywhere and enough power for a small trailer when needed.

We don't plow snow down here so I can't help there.

Lots of great advice and lots of nice looking machines! If it was me and I was looking to get work done with a 5k budget, I'd consider picking up a used Kawasaki Mule. Built like a tank and pretty reliable. We used to hoon the heck out of one when I worked for the DNR state park!

Built right in Marysville Ohio...they have since moved much of the ATV manufacturing to your "back yard" (Timmonsville)
