Weed burner. I take a dim view of 'ambulance chaser' barristers anyway. Cannot make a legitimate living practicing real law so they chase PI cases and product liability to put food on the table and line their pockets. Only issue I see with the Vee-Dub is melting the plastic grill of the vehicle behind it...lol

It sounds like the thermal couple is not getting proof of flame. I know it's new but you should check the resistance on it. The thermal wire needs to be placed all the way into the ceramic tube. The ceramic tube must be mounted far enough out to heat up, but to much and pellets will hit it.

IMHO the hopper switch has its purpose and often misconceived. Many seem to negate that leaving the hopper open has no effect on the stove. But actually as the hopper level drops and lets air into the stove weather it be a top-mid or bottom feed, It does allow air to enter. The air getting in isn't entering where it should be! Which is in the(designed path) up through the burn pot. Burn quality degrading may not be easily noticed? But it will suffer and so would the stoves efficiency.

I can see a bypass as a diagnostic measure, But I would never suggest it be bypassed permanently. I won't even get into liability issues! But they too exist.
