That was a big tree, looks like the right crew took it on. Job well done. I know you are proud of your grandson, looks like he was raised right. That's a lot of wood to be processed on your yard...
Ive had beech in my woods do the same. PITA processing "limby" trees. I often wonder if they're worth the effort. At least it was close. Nice work BTU!
Thank you Lyle! I'm just teaching him what I was taught as a kid. He loves equipment & tools, so I'll keep encouraging him. Boys gotta learn "guy" stuff at some point, so I figure I'll start em young lol. He can actually operate that skidder pretty well, he judges turns & geometry better than most. I'm very blessed to able to take the time & have the "stuff" for him to be able to learn on. Happy Independence Day!
It was pretty good size & didn't land real well, but that'll happen with wind. My daughter & son in law are excellent parents & both my grand kids are being very well raised for which I'm so thankful. The Good Lord willing I'll be around for a bit yet to get them both in trouble with their mom. As to those log piles, yep there's a good bit of work there, but it'll get done in due time.
My Grandpa taught me many things and I am a much better person for it. He is a lucky to have the relationship he does with you
