Yes. He had a piece of PVC pipe cut to 16" and a lumber crayon. I had my trusty folding rule and chalk. Luckily we like the same length.

Dropped my PU full at storage today. The dusting of snow we were supposed to get turned into nearly 3". Drop in temp refroze the ground so i was able to back in. IMG_0444.JPG 3/4+ cord of oak from the score so far. IMG_0445.JPG

It only takes a short time to mark them out but worth every second in the end. Stacks just look so much better when you are done.

Works pretty good. Slips easily into the front pocket unless its humid then gets a tad messy! I usually get it at the dollar store.

Hit the score as ground is still frozen solid at storage. Once mud starts, bringing rounds in will stop.
Cleaned up some random pieces and limbs and started bucking a big trunk to fill the load. Frozen BL does a number on chains. IMG_0463.JPG IMG_0465.JPG IMG_0464.JPG Rounds piling up at storage. Roughly cord and a half. IMG_0466.JPG

That 462 is purdy. I’m torn between that and the 400 for my next saw

Thanks. The 400 was my next saw, but learned of the 462 powerhead being only a few ounces heavier than a 400. Found this one with only three tanks of gas through it and for less than the out the door price of a 400, i couldnt say no. Havent had it into big wood yet and was really more saw than i needed here, but impressed so far. Ironically i found a slightly used 400 right after i bought the 462 and the seller backed out. I still may get one. My Bday is in a couple months.
What saws are you running now grandgourmand?

Still gave my 550xp. and...I picked up a 500i last year. haven't used it much yet. But I like what I see so far. I would like two saws at my place in the country where I plan on doing a lot of cutting this year. and I want one in the city, because I still run into free wood scores.

400 good choice, 362 good option too for what your use will be. My 261 (same CC as your 550) seems to be my go to saw. Wanna see pics when you get a 400!

Cut safe and hoard on! :saw:

Round four today with BRAD. As always, another awesome day. A little on the chilly side but a good weather day to be outside.
I pulled out another load of Oak and BRAD was doing the Black Locust dance. Sackett Point 2.20.2022 -1.jpg Sackett Point 2.20.2022 -2.jpg

Still plenty of wood left, hopefully can get back soon for another load.

Awesome that you guys get out there together! My son and my brother, who got the wood stove, went with me yesterday. Firewooding is always more fun when you’re doing it with someone else:handshake:

So much better with someone else. I met BRAD from the forums here, would have never even known he existed.
Funny part is he is so close to me( literally one mile away). Can't wait for the next time out.
A bunch of logs for the sawmill here too that we have to get after as well= good times!

Was a nice day for wooding, sunny and cold. Worked a big trunk and finished one from the last cutting. IMG_0482.JPG IMG_0483.JPG IMG_0484.JPG IMG_0485.JPG BL with a frozen "compost" center does a number on chains. Chain on the 462 now duller than my love life! :D IMG_0486.JPG
IMG_0487.JPG His load of oak. IMG_0491.JPG My load of BL IMG_0489.JPG IMG_0490.JPG Always a good time cutting with him. We'll be back for more soon.

I had time this afternoon to hunt more locust. Finished one tree and found a top plus plenty of buried wood from prior storm clean up...cut into chunks and pushed off the road hastily at the time. All with bark that came right off. Another trunk and more of the same for next time. IMG_0631.JPG IMG_0632.JPG
