Ok my opinion; size of firebox natters!. Regardless of manufacturer; wood has X BTUs per pound of dry weight because water doesn’t burn. This is constant in world and goes for heating oil, nat gas, coal and other fuels as well.
Therefore you want a stove with good efficiency!

I just got a DS Comfort Max 75 stove installed and couldn't be happier. It gives me the flexibility to burn coal or wood. I prefer wood as I have about 35 cord split and stacked at various stages for seasoning. It is listed as a Coal stove as it doesn't meet new EPA standards, but it doesn't have a catalytic converter to go bad either. It has the reburn tubes inside so it is still very efficient. They are solid Amish made zero frills. You can buy the blower, but I don't see the point. The last thing I want to do is turn my stove into a grid tied appliance.

I don't hear much, if any, hating on DS, so it seems to me like they make a fairly solid product...of course I think a lot of their customer base is Amish, so...

Circling back because life got busy and I never ordered a stove. Well after last month's heat bill, we need a wood burner asap!

Looking at the green mountain 80 and the blaze king 40. I am still looking for other options, but a large stove is my biggest priority.

Even if I had a wood furnace or boiler I would still want a stove. There is nothing like it. Silent heat and mesmerizing to watch. I have a Lopi Endeavor, but it sounds like that may be a little small for your situation. Good luck shopping!

I'm into my second winter using the BK40. So far, I'm extremely happy with it. Love the stat and the huge firebox. It easily holds a fire all night. This morning when I got up (Central Michigan) it was exactly 0° on the thermometer. I hadn't looked at the weather forecast and had no idea it was supposed to get that cold. I had turned the stat down for the night burn, so I woke up to the house at 71°. Much colder than I'm used to! The stove was still half full of very big coals. Wish I had run the stove on high. On high, the load would have still lasted all night and the house would have been much warmer. So far, zero complaints on the BK 40. I would buy another one without a second thought.

With you 100%! I had a stove in the living room for many years. Put in an OWB and took the stove out. Mistake!! Boiler went bad after 11 years, so put in the BK40. No regrets! Love watching the fire burn and wood usage SIGNIFICANTLY reduced.
