I'm enjoying the cooler weather, as long as the rain holds off. Better for hauling and splitting. "Wood warms you twice" after all.
Summer is different in the Midwest and other parts. High humidity and heat. I'd be good with Alaska summer.
I've always been a pyro...fascinated by fires early on. We used to make a clearing in the corn fields, and build camp fires and sleep out there over night. It wasn't much of a fire hazard since the field is just dirt once the corn is gone. Not a significant financial hardship for lost corn either.
Looks like fall will be very cool. Nights already cooler than usual. Didn't put the AC in the dining room this year. Still waiting to see what HD is going to offer for Pellet deals. That is usually mid August. WalMart is already stocking up. I don't like the very cold, and I miss the light in the evening so I am not anxious for winter to come.
Yesterday I had some folks tell me the forecast was for a cool August but after Labor Day the weather was to turn really nice....whatever that meant. This morning I looked on accuweather and they are saying we are going to be having some hot days before long. Flip a coin, I guess.
I don't love it cold. I wish it was high low 70's...and lows in the high 50's all year round. Not going to happen.
Looking forward to some heat before the summer closes, got stacks to dry. so far it's been a 'meh' kind of summer.
I am in no hurry at all for winter. Spring ,summer, fall are fine I am perfectly content to make fire outside in the pit , sit in front of it and drink beer :firepit:
" meh" is an understatement for me. Majority of locals are really grumpy, weather related. We just don't get enough "summer" to accept our 3-months being reduced to 2 months, or less. Just not cool.
