I've seen you enough on here that I should be able to spot you if we cross paths. I'm on the hunt there for a saw slinger that I used to kinda know via my work (lost contact with him). I have a big crush danger poplar with a hollowed butt that I am not willing to cut due to possible structure damage. So I will be scanning as I wander around. Have you been before Jeff?
Awesome. You will enjoy it, I'm sure. (I wish I could go for the first time again) We're set to have great weather tomorrow even. Don't be frightened by the Amish. lol They are a huge part of our wood industry here.
I have a FHC shirt on , hope to run into some other hoarders this morning. Will be leaving soon to pick up T Jeff and Carrol at there motel. It will be a good day
We made it to Mt Vernon about 8PM last night. Beautiful day. Joining Walt this morning for breakfast and heading to the show.
Walt has got shirts the last couple years but sadly his order is completed. You might contact him in case he has an extra or has to order more.
I jumped in the wife's car to go and it no started Of course she needs to run errands today so she needed the truck. Could go now but two hours each way and wanting to be back by five not worth it. Maybe next year
Had a last minute change of plans and ended up going...ran into T.Jeff Veal and mizz Carol too! We were at the top of an embankment, and they at the bottom, so basically only got to holler back n forth for a minute, but still good to see a familiar face(s). Realized when we were leaving that I didn't take too many pics! there is just so much to see, it's almost overwhelming! Seen lots of different splitters/processors, lots of innovative designs, different quality levels, and price points for sure! This one below seems like an excellent deal for $5k! Not a commercial machine, but plenty heavy for any homeowner, or even a small commercial operation. Specs show Kohler Command Pro 14 HP engine, 22 gpm pump, 26" stroke, 30 tons force, 4.7 second cycle time, 2 cords per hour. And built in New York! I guess it's in collaboration with Timberwolf. TimberOX Summit 30-Ton Log Splitter Also found out Dyna makes a really nice little splitter too, the LS24-18...IIRC it was only $4500, with out feed table and manual log lift! Also made in USA, Michigan to be exact...Dyna is a big name in commercial firewood processors, for anyone not familiar. Didn't get a pic of that one though. LS24-18 I would guess both were show special pricing.
Miz Carol and I went back again this afternoon. It was nice to see Dave up on the hill, glad he made it down. Guess who else we saw...our good FHC member Casper he was helping around the Bissell Maple syrup tent...we had to get some more of their Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup... They were set up next to the Woodland Mills tent...visited them and wound up ... We will be getting a stump grinder shipped down in the next couple weeks...... Miz Carol found Paul Bunyan This guy throwing the axe is 6'8"... Some more big equipment... We had a great time, big show. Took this picture from top of the hill...
You guys very well may have your week planned out already T.Jeff Veal , but if not, a couple suggestions for you while you're in the area would be Lehman's old fashioned hardware Kidron Store - Lehman's And then 5 minutes up the road is Smuckers factory store, which is closing permanently soon...it's quite a sight in there...I guarantee you'll leave with some treats! smucker-store
I didn't take any pics worth posting. Was there from 11-2:30 Friday. As per usual so many sights and sounds. Found some neat gifts at a couple of the vendors. Spent some time perusing the 3pt winches from 4 or 5 makers, asking questions. This Christmas ornament was really cool.
Missing someone there is fairly easy as big as the place is. Last year I was there almost all day Saturday and only saw one other FHC member. And I saw them three times.
