I live an hour and a half away and I have a cabin that you would be welcome to use. I will be attending on Friday with a couple of friends. All FHC members are welcome here

I pulled mine out of mothballs last weekend to make sure it was ready to go. Was a little nervous about the fuel in it but it fired after two pulls. Of course that was after I finished cleaning up this mess from wasps that I unaffectionately refer to as 'Muddy Mud Dobbers'. Jammed the recoil fingers so that they could not extend when rope was pulled. This was a first for me after fighting these things in other places for years.

Getting anxious. It's not so much the show, but that the show is coinciding with kickoff of wood making season. Hoping to get some logs pulled in this weekend and may start splitting if cool enough.

There's a season? To me as long as its dry. I won't work as long in the heat or extreme cold but I make firewood year round

Yes. I will not work firewood unless forced when temps are above 80. Fall is typically dry and cooler. Mud comes back mid November, hopefully freezes in December and stays that way until March when the next mud season starts. By the time that one is done, it's usually pretty warm out.

Leaving in about an hour , looked for my FHC hat but couldn't find it. Maybe I will run into some of you FHC members today. Look for a big fellow wearing bib overalls and a brown shirt ,would like to shake hands if we cross paths

Well I just got home. I was a little disappointed. Maybe because I didn't have $200k to spend on the cool stuff I wanted. Maybe because I didn't see what I actually went for...a small skid steer and kinetic splitter. Maybe because I didn't win the Ultra. Maybe because I didn't find Walto.
Definitely geared toward professional full timers.

I didn't get any calls for saws or a splitter. Did find several Christmas gifts though which was a goal going in. Talked to several vendors and patrons. Most all seemed to be in a pretty good mood. Attendance was down markedly according to some of them. Way less Amish they said. Last year it was slam packed on Friday, which used to be the slow day. I guess now Sunday is the slow one. I did buy myself one 24" Xcut chain at the Wright Brothers Husky stand. Saw a guy make it to the top of the climbing obstacle course. He was met with cheers from the crowd. Didn't notice Buckin Billy...I think he was there.

These shows were how I learned just how costly some log splitters can be. I didn't spend much time down in the equipment this year ( I can't afford any of it either lol). I was mostly in the vendor tents and craft buildings. Got hungry and noticed a fish and chips stand. Made my way back to it...$20. Had to pass for that kinda price. Skipped the food and picked something up on my way home.

Just now seeing this...My sons and I stayed at a Baymont in Cambridge and the price wasn't to terrible bad. Was looking for a place to sleep really and it turned out to be decent. The staff was nice and it was clean, all we was looking for. Oh, most importantly, they had free breakfast! We enjoyed the show and bought a few things. Probably going back next year.

I'll be there again year as well. I have intentions of watching some of the competitions which I used to do more of many years ago. I need to actually look at the schedule and see when the events are going on. Some things that I have not seen for a while there that I miss are the Skidder Race and watching the Draft Horses being worked. I think the skidder race/obstacle course is gone completely, I may just be missing the Horses being demonstrated. There is still a small pool for log rolling but no one is ever in it when I'm around. Unsure if there is still a log loading competition or not. There really is a lot to see there, it's just spread out over 3 days.
