There was some thorny BL limbs on the tops. No saplings or new growth from the rootballs. Didnt really have to hack them off though. I limbed up to a point and cut the top off. The bark came completely off so i ended up 3-4".
The word is out and the BL is actually attempting to hide from buZZsaw BRAD If you can barely see the white truck from the BL, than it should be impossible to see the BL from the truck! How does he do it folks! How does he do it?

Are you getting them out? Your property? Hack your way to them, prop off ground to dry and/or get washed off. I have a couple areas for it that ive done the same. One has 3-4 trees snapped off and above ground. Last Spring i removed what bark i could so they will get washed off. Have to check them out today. Will you used hedge clippers, loppers, chain saw to clear it out? I used the hedge clippers then the saw.
That was at WeldrDave informal GTG last Summer. His building lot. Someone had those gloves for me to use and joked they matched my safety "high visibility" shirts.
Yeah, this is on my property. Most of the BL is off the ground. Tangled with other blow downs, or suspended by vines and thorns. I'm trying to be selective in my brush removal. It's really thick and the deer are often in there. I like BL but I LOVE venison. . I started bringing some out today. Used the saw to clear the vines and some of the thorn bushes. Some of the thorns were 1"-2" at the base. I bucked to 48" or 64" logs, depending on diameter. Couldn't get quad right to them, so had to carry either to the quad (only 2 trips) and rest right to the pile. My pile isn't too impressive for the amount of time. Cutting the vines and hoofing them out was a time killer. Still some decent BL blowdowns there, perfect to just buck and stack. Was a nice day today Brad. Took some time off from the project and went for a joyride on the atv. Lo and behold at the other side of the forest I found some BL rounds laying on the side of the road. Looked around, no trees. Did t take too long to figure out someone had dumped them there LOL. Oh well, still a nice day.
Look at post #31 of this thread...you'll like it. No worries about hijacking. Same subject more or less. I hear ya on the amount of work and wood yielded for you efforts. Today i stopped by another area i scrounged downed BL from last year and found more storm clean up wood....you guessed it, buried among prickers, weeds etc. Did you claim them or should i take a ride through your area?
Last load out from this score. It has been short sleeve warm so i wanted to go back with a sweatshirt on dealing with the thorns. Locust mania trumped that yesterday. Two tops and a few chunks. Ants werent as frozen! Half a PU full. Score finished. There is another BL spar plus three chunks i could buck from the hickory as well as several hard to get blowovers should i decide to go back. Rounds waiting for splitting. 3 1/2 PU fulls of BL (one was green) from the score.
