Thanks for trying it and posting. You’re the second person on FHC to say you don’t have any trouble starting the Countyline in the cold.

Probably not bad since it is the first time it has been fired (aside from factory)

That’s a demo model so it’s been fired before. I bet it has plain 10w30 in it though. I’ll run 5w30 synthetic after the break in.

You mentioned they fuel the engine; if it had been ran completely out, that can make a difference. If you have time, stop by again in a morning and see how many pulls it takes after it has been started now.

I know when I run my CountryLine dry it takes a few pulls when cold to start. Haven't noticed it so much when it still has gas in it. Maybe I will try it this weekend.

Stopped at Menards tonight. They have a 22 ton with a Briggs engine. It’s cheap but ergonomically challenged. Beam is only 27” off the ground (3” shorter than the Champion or CountyLine). The axle/oil tank is more intrusive than the others too.

Menards has a 25 ton too but they didn’t have one on display.

Has a YTL item number so probably related to the TSC CountyLine and the Rural King Black Diamond.

Going to scrounge some hackberry this weekend. Should provide some good fodder for the CountyLine in a few weeks.

So you think you are going to get the CountyLine splitter?

Yes. I’m heading out of town in a couple weeks so I’ll pry get it after I return. Want to make the most of the 30 day return policy.

FWIW, my 30T came with a Briggs engine and I hated it so much after one season I just spent $1,000 for a Honda engine to replace it. I have it sitting beside me right now at my computer desk.
The Briggs was hard to start in the cooler weather, kicked back and ripped the cord out of my hand many times and ended up breaking the plastic pulley in the starter. It vibrated much more than my old Kohler. It also uses twice the gas. And it was quite a bit louder.
The Kohler I had on my other splitter was a dream. Easy starting and smooth running.
I can't wait for the warmer weather to install the Honda.

Like so many things, Briggs and Stratton aren't what they use to be.

When butt cold out I just use a hairdryer on the engine for a few minutes before I start and don't have any issues pulling when used all day.:coldone:

15 years ago, when I bought my Huskee 22 ton at Tractor Supply, they had a few with Honda engines. Upped the price a little but it was well worth it. Still starts like a dream, 1 - 2 pulls. Split a ton of wood in that time too ( over 100 cord )!

Never saw them sell with Hondas since then!

FFF. 20 * this morning. The counyline started on a pull and a half. The half pull was because my hand slipped off the pull rope handle.:picard:

Trailer load of hackberry to test the CountyLine in a couple weeks.

Painted myself into a corner. Want to split off the trailer, but need the trailer to haul the splitter. I wonder if they can load it into my truck...

Yes they can, at least they could at the one I went too. Buy one in the crate and not a "display" model.
