Is that like parking the car in the parking lot? Perhaps it goes like this? I pahked the cah in the pahking lot.

How does a Maine logger pronounce crow or crowbar? That first r must cause problems the same as "problem" does.

    It would be "crowbah".

The first R in the word is NOT proceeded by a vowel, therfore it is pronounced. The second R is, therefore it is pronounced AH just as I stated in my previous post. Problem would be pronounced just as you say it for the same reason.

Honestly, I am not being funny on this. That is how we say it and why.

Here is an authentic Maine accent I think. Its hard for me to say because it does not sound funny at all, or even like an accent, now you go up to Downeast Maine, now there they talk funny. Have a listen and see what you think. About 1:30 in there are some ah's pronounced.

I was never a lobstermen but my first wife was a lobsterwoman. Our inlaws had a lobster pound (wharf where they bought and sold lobsters from the lobstermen to the wholesalers). It was a lot of fun and man did we eat well. I was working for the railroad so any time I came home and wanted a lobster, tuna steak, mess of clams, crab, swordfish, or scallops, it was just a 100 yard walk down over the wharf to fish them out of the crates. I even lobstered a few times off Criehaven (Ragged Island on the maps) the furthest inhabited island in the continental USA. It was neat. Even caught a 14 pound lobster and have a picture of it somewhere, I just have to find it. But that was a long time ago.
