Broke down.

Although I get plenty of free wood it seems never a lot of oak. Ran into the logger that did my dad's farm a few years back and asked what loads were going for. $650-700 depending on species. All oak was the $700 stuff. Told him to bring a load of oak. It is a mix of dead and green. Red,white and chestnut oak. Mostly about 25 foot long logs.

 

How many cord are you planning on getting out of the load?

 

I would buy loads if I could. It’s a lot more convenient and no limbing.

 

I'm hoping 7. the logger had them fairly tight stacked on the truck.

 

I'm hoping it cuts down on time spent getting wood here. Hauling a 1/2 cord or so in the truck or dump trailer eats into splitting time.

 

The thread title confused me. For a bit i thought the triaxle broke down and left you the load?
Hopefully i never have to pay for wood, but it is a lot easier. How quick will you process that Steve?

Not sure how soon Ill get started on it Brad. I have a bunch of dry ash that needs split for this summer. The campers and firepit people are killing me already.

 

Better get it done before farming season ramps up!

Sweet corn planting this week. Maters and peppers are coming next week. Figuring I'll work on wood on days it's to wet to get in the fields.

 

Same here only wholesale bundles. Got three orders today. I hate to dip into my cherry for bundles but its the driest stuff i have.

Thats the way to do it. Saves time and whatever vehicles you use to haul the wood otherwise.
