Yes, I agree with you 100%. But as I said, Phoebe did not come into actual contact with the kitten nor did they share anything at all with each other. I had the kitten in the crook of my arm and squatted down to see how Phoebe would react; Phoebe put her front paws on my cast and sniffed at the kitten; absolutely no bodily fluids were exchanged, and the kitten never touched any part of the house at all (I put a hand towel down on the sink and put the kitten on that).

And I know and appreciate your intentions in warning me, really. But there just was not any path to transmit a [non-airborne] virus between them. I also agree 100% that it is possible Mama cat and all four kittens do indeed have feline leukemia.

Going forward, I will have each kitten tested (whether I keep some, none or all of them for my own pets) before 1) bringing them into the house and allowing ANY virus- sharing contact with Phoebe and / or 2) before I put any kitten up for adoption. If any do actually have leukemia, I think I will opt for euthanizing them as I believe it is actually kinder to the cat than having them live several months only to become ill and die anyway. And I would never pass along an un- tested kitten or cat to anyone, that is just bad form.

But again, I am taking your advise and warnings as 100% positive and helpful so thank you for taking the time to type that out. Besides, this is a public, open forum and that is great info. to have lying around for any others who might happen to read this.



And we are not really attached to Phoebe 'cause she is going to the pound!

True enough. And that is why I did not 'insist' and persist in looking. If it is a female, it might get the wrong idea and #metoo me. If it was a male, it might take great offense and then spend months or years plotting revenge (I know I would....). If it is a gay male, it might get the wrong idea and think my hands were making promises I have absolutely no intention of keeping..... I will check again later when it is a bit older and can better understand my intentions and accept a reasonable explanation....

Well I laughed a very hearty laugh at the post, and one shouldn't need a disclaimer.

But that's the opinion of an "older" person who has survived and gotten past being harrassed and bullied in his youth.
