I have the Mercury 150 four stroke and ran it in per manual and it’s been a very good motor that’s never made any oil. Only downside is the weak alternators which I’ve already changed. Found a new one on eBay for 150 vs rhe 300$ the dealer wantes

My 2022 400 manual says it’s the same thing and I believe my 500 does too

Verado’s and SHO’s are factory bass boat race motors, huge difference….

When the rings don’t seat and fuel bypasses them into the crankcase like some of the ecoboost and honda turbo motors were doing

Ring leakage of gasoline into the crankcase.

Yep I know what they are so is a pro xs, they make a pro xs based off my engine and it makes a bit more mid range and up top because of the timing and fuel mapping. Good friend of mine has a verado 350 on his tri toon another one I fish with has a bass boat wirh a 250 verado. I chose the 150 four stroke only 2013 Lund 1875 impact over the 150 optimax and the verado 150. The optimax was my second choice I think but did think between them for quite awhile

Original ProXS were compressed 2 smokes, they carried that over to the V6/V8 4 stroke line….

Yep they were high performance optimax engines for awhile and also power of towers years ago merc likes reusing names. The xs and verados are just basically hi performance engines is all. I mean a verado is a carry over from the supercharged inline 4-6 cylinders that Porsche helps develop parts of.

merc likes the xs designation on performance outboards and your entirely correct that my 150 isn’t the performance version but not certain what’s different internally over mine on the 150xs which is supposed to run against the sho or if it’s mostly mapping also not trying to argue I’m actually like talking to people on the performance outboards that companies have made. Brought out the old xs1500 because lots have never seen one and now I’m done with this massive detail I’ve been involved in. Far as saws mix a bit heavier on oil and runs them

    No.
There’s a single butterfly for air and an injector 3” behind it, about a half inch from the piston

I have had nearly every model of Stihl, bought primarily from the premium Stihl dealerships. All of them fill the tank, set it up, and run it. Much like every saw I have…..running it hard and wide open. My slightly smashed 500i was run hard right out of the dealership, zero issues. I am watching this thread, but none of my saws failed. I even milk with them new……wide open for long periods. Zero issues.

I'm guessing "mill" as in Alaskan.
