Agreed. The dealer fires them up hard right out of the box.

Both mine were dry and unfired by the dealer. Not even a hint of gas smell in them.

I generally don't do that regardless of the age of the saw. I may give a saw a few blips to get oil moving on the bar and get the chain spinning before a cut, but I'm not big into pizz revving.

The "I" saws are more of an electronic carb than they are actually "injected", no?

I can't say the same. Once broken in I'll pizz rev them a bit here and there. Not trying to break any records though.

Let me get this straight, the prevailing opinion on the break-in is basically this?

Pretty much. The person that spends the cash can do whatever they want with their stuff. I share my way but never try to convince someone they need to follow it.

The reason I do my break-in that way is based on those engine builders as mentioned. They tried every style of break-in process they knew of and their claim was this one gave them the most average power and longevity. They have dynos to test hp and a race team wearing out engines to go by. By how much it increases those attributes they didn't say but enough for them to do it I guess. So, I figure it can't hurt outside of costing me some extra time. I have personally witnessed a guy I used to race with blow up two fresh engines from running them like he stole them from the get go but who knows how he had them tuned. The were pretty hot ported ESP racing engines.

Issac of ICWelds on tubeU, says, I’m not telling you this is the right way to do this, or this is the only way to do this. I’m just telling you this is how I do it…
