    ashwatcher, what are you normally burning if sugar maple 24k btu, and apple similar is mid weight? yeah I love smell of maple and fruit trees...

    Had this one in my yard last summer till one side of it took a digger in a storm. Had the tree removed about 3 weeks later and I css'd the rest of it. I'll be burning it this winter so I can't tell you how it burns yet.

    I can tell you it was very heavy for fruit wood and doesn't have a grain to it when splitting. Probably why it can't withstand 20mph winds..lol.. 20140708_201851.jpg 20140805_200228.jpg

    From the splits I've pulled out and checked it dries fast too. I'll be burning about 3/4 of a cord this coming winter so there will be a full report.

    White oak, ash, beech, hard maple and red oak are my primary burners-locust some, cherry some-I'm a wood snob I guess...never even thought about pear but when I found some compare to apple, which I have never burned, I thought it would be nice to ask and maybe experiment...thx for the insights
