First of all, congrats to you and the family! Must be so exciting to have a new addition to the family, especially around this time of year! Best wishes! As for those PTL Softies, they are the best I have tried so far this year. In fact, they are some of the best I have burned period. Taking everything into account - Heat, ash, price, dust, fines, smell, duration glass remains clean, etc. they rank very high in every category! I have 5 bags set aside for you, so whenever you want to do a swap, just say the word. I drive right through your area on my way to / from work every day - but you definitely have other MUCH higher priorities right now
Cool, where abouts do you work? Are there any pellets in my stash you would want in a swap if we eventually do meet up? Perhaps some time after the New Year would be best.I will keep you posted.
I work in Framingham, so I take 395 up to the pike in Auburn every day. I also have 2 unopened bags of FSUs to hand off to you as well; those are on me. My stove had a terrible time with these. Like terrible to the point where I scooped an entire bag + back out of the hopper so I don't have to burn any more of them. Very interested to know how they do in a different stove, I would like to get some validation that they are "batch variance", not sure what I will do if you say they burn perfectly though . I couldn't get any Vermonts this year, so if you can part with any of those it would be good for comparison purposes on both sides.
I live maybe half a mile from 395. I also am almost through 10 bags of FSU, they burn pretty good for me, in do need to increase the air a tad or a get a little hard ash. I will gladly trade you or give you a couple of bags of Vermont's. However, they are at the bottom of my four tons. We could probably trade pellets later in the burning season. Let me know what you think
I'm surprised. I've burned quite a few of these. Have 3 tons in the basement. Just put a bag leftover from last year in the hopper but it has hit the burn pot yet. I haven't had any issues with them. What were they doing in your stove?
TT down the road if you want I can swap a couple Vermont's with you I am sure you know where my store is... . Maybe a little discount on your favorite beverage.
Yup. Next time I go over to Riverside to pick up dinner, I will swing by with some PTLs. Keep a 6-pack of Sam White Xmas around for me. Just grabbed a couple yesterday but this stuff goes quick around here!
The first bag created that gigantic creosote monster in the burn pot. That one you know about. I thought maybe it was because the stove burned low/slow that time. The other night I threw in another bag and almost a full 3rd bag so the hoper was full. It was a cold night so I knew the stove would not burn low all night. 4 hours later I woke up looked at the stove and the entire burn pot was covered with that same nasty creosote garbage as the first bag. The flame burns lazy and with a continuous unusual strobe light effect with or without the clinker formation, but worse with it. They don't smell right either, like there something other than just wood in them. There is no doubt in my mind I got stuck with a bad batch, for me these are as bad as Infernos. Good thing I only bought 5 bags! Cripes, if I had bought these the first year I had my stove, I might not have burned a second season...
Ditto here. They're a good cheap pellet.I love em.Hot and not to ashy. They do produce some small industrial diamonds in my burnpot but no big deal.
Awf wp, HD charges about 25 bux more than their other pellets & calls the "premier with its own SKU" skids sart at 270 - then your coupon skills come into play.. Initially i thought they were playing up to the lowes GT bullchit. Anybody pigging in 2013, knows about the "lowes GT tax" funny thing havent seen GT in a loooong time. AWP WP from HD,Its a legitmate value & with the extra clams. Ray
SMITH CREEK - (lowes) HOT *** i didnt burn them, silverback the badazz pig on a review rampage did the heavy lifting.. Thanks bud! Lets put at an all points bulletin & build another pretty cheat sheet for review section.
