Nice to see some fellow boaters/fishermen around here. I have a little skiff myself, and have been known to put a bit of blood on the deck!
Nice fish! Someday I’d like to go out for stripers! Then again someday I’d like to take my own boat out to even catch a couple sunfish Times out this year....4
NO!! Fishing season is really just starting for us! Best time of year for my area is right now. I'll take you out striper fishing anytime you want, just give me a shout!
If anybody remembers! I left Venice la. On the 12th. Ran up around the gulf coast back down to key largo. Wind. Hurricane nate damage. Boat issues got me into k. Largo monday evening at 8:20 p.m. cash gone. C.c. smoldering. Heck of a trip to say the least and to top it off. Given the chance. I'd turn around and do it again. Heading for cornfield country Fri. A.m. pics to come.
My ski nautique has a 90 watt light bulb in the engine compartment tonight. We're supposed to get frost tonight. I'll winterize it this weekend.
Handy tip #1: A mere overnight frost will not freeze your boat/engine, if it is kept in the water. You need to look at the temperature of the water the boat sits in. If the water temp is 50 or 60 degree's still, it will keep the boat/engine plenty warm during cold nights down into the upper/mid 20's. If the boat is out of the water, all bets are off of course! Once the water temp gets below 40, then you have to start looking at the air temps into the 20's as a problem. Tip #2: The old "lightbulb" in the engine room is a dangerous gamble in cold weather. Get a ceramic engine room heater, they come on only when it drops below 40 and are ignition proof. Caframo (link below) makes a great 120v one for under $200. I have one permanently installed in my engine room from Nov on. .
My boat is on the trailer, in my driveway. But yes, a great tip if it suits. Yes with nearly anything, if you don't pay attention, the light bulb trick could cause a fire. I only use a 90w bulb, and am very careful about where it's put. That heater you liked would be a better solution of I had one.
Very nice, it is the ONLY thing I miss about growing up on LI, Lindenhurst then Holtville. Grew up on the Great South Bay, made a living digging clams, 77-82.
