Ah, I've spent time there too. Wife used to live in Oregon and we rented a nice beach house in Pacific City. My now wife made an awesome dungeness crab risotto there. We had to buy the crab though and I spent a while shucking it. It was delicious.

Interesting that recreational fish can't be sold. Good news is that you have a ton of tuna, which is excellent!

Mom brought up fishing, she don’t ask for much so, when she wants to fish’n, by gawd we go fish’n

She got our cod for us today, no pictures of those. She got a couple small yellow eye and some quill-back, both protected and released at depth.

    Morning colors.

Per F&W, Yellow eye and quill-back are long lived, late reproduction species and low biomass so they go back. They eat pretty good, or they used too.

Today was canary, china and tiger with a couple coho. Water made a dried up corn cob seem smooth, no pictures today. Gotta get the time in now, Monday starts 3 weeks of school out of state, but we’ll get Mom into more salmon first couple weeks of September.

WWW question on boat wiring. Where does one find this plug that goes to the ESA? (he paid to have the harness rewired and it appears they didn't even touch it but charged him after having it for 2 weeks  )

Began my Pre-fishing season routine on the boat today. Started and ran the big motor for about 15 minutes. Took a minute to get it started and it burbled and farted a couple times before smoothing out. That's OK, I burble and fart a bit after a long nap also. Starts instantly and runs smooth at both idle and fast now. Tomorrow will throw a whopping charge on the battery, test the trim tabs, chart plotter and radio. Also need to start and run out the kicker motor, check and possibly empty the fuel strainer/water separator and check all running lights. Then comes "The Big Clean"! My boat is unfortunately stored outside and some debris always gets under the covers. So, vacuum, scrub and zip wax and clean all the vinyl windows with Plastex and the windscreen with glass polish. After that, check tires and trailer lights, gas up the boat then load the safety gear, rods and tackle and ready to rock and roll! I will accomplish all this over the next few weeks. I am very glad that I don't have a moored boat as I would have to add putting her on the grid and cleaning the bottom and replacing zincs!
Anyone else have a routine for prepping their boat for the spring fishing/boating season?

metalcuttr definitely I have a routine for getting the boat ready for the season. It's a little different for me this year, because the dealer had my bigger boat all prepped for the season when we bought it.

You did remind me to get my props sent out for a little clean up that was there when I bought it. ;)

Well Doug, she's a 17 ft mess right now! This last windstorm a few days ago blew a lot of stuff in and on. Clean before pictures. Maybe I'll start the cleaning first.

I stored my Larson up north in the pole shed this winter. Usually that means I'll have fun getting out of in spring, with the unplowed driveway and the road that it's plowed that the shed is on. Usually there's big snow banks, but they won't be very big due to a low snow year, again. I have slightly bigger AT tires on the truck too, but I fully expect to have to shovel a bit of snow. I used those nice smelling mice and rodent repelling pouches, as well as a tarp and stretch wrap around the boat to keep crud out and off of my boat.

Just waiting for it to warm up out there.

Until then, I'll be in Mexico shortly for a week. I plan on fishing down there with friends. Wahoo and mahi mahi are supposed to be biting well.

I'll try to bring up the heat up north when I come back.

Wish I had a pole barn to store my boat in! Best of success on you trip! I'm envious.

Ran the kicker out today and vacuumed and sprayed out the boat. Next step is a light pressure wash and scrub with zip wax. Unfortunately the kicker needs a new impeller. Another thing to do!:headbang: 4inrocketb5.jpg 4inrocketb5.jpg

Hopefully the impeller is easy to swap out on that Honda. That's one reason I wanted either a bravo 3 or Volvo penta duoprop for ease of impeller swapping. The VP duoprop I bought is super easy. You can do it even on the water apparently. Mercruiser alpha I/O's are a pita to swap impellers apparently.

I had to clean up a lot of junk to fit my boat in the shed. Mom's a hoarder, and I wasn't paying more money to store a second boat when we have a great pole shed, just a couple hours away. My buddy and I down here lost our storage guy where he keeps his 17' ranger and I keep my 18' correct craft at. We've been storing our boats here for 10+ years and was told when I dropped the Martinique off for winter storage that this is the last year for storage at his place because he's turning it all into a shop. My buddy down here is wanting to put up ashed. I've found a couple for him and I offered to help build it. We let him store his ranger in the pole shed up north along with my CC before Mom started filling it with junk.
I do plan on emptying junk out of the shed up north, but I don't plan on making 2 trips hauling boats to store them over winter. The correct craft pulls like nothing behind the F-150, but you definitely notice the 24.5 ft Larson behind the truck.

It's been TOO long for a tropical vacation for us. I rented a villa and paid for the accomodations so our friends only had to buy plane tickets. My birthday present to myself was renting a villa and having our friends along.
