I got my oil changed in my ski boat and did end up getting a new battery under 100% warranty. They tested it at first and said it checked out as good. They offered to do a full test and charge. About an hour and a half later, they called me and they determined that it failed and they owed me a new battery. Good. There's $160 I didn't have to spend. AGM batteries are not cheap, I bought this one last June. The last exact same battery lasted 4 or 5 years. Hopefully this one is like the first one... I ran it in the driveway 15-20 minutes to get the oil up to temp to get it to drain nicely. I used a plastic romaine lettuce container to catch the oil when changing the oil filter. Perfect. No drips. Greased up the bearing buddy's and she should be good. Planning to go out tomorrow, despite it being opening day of fishing season here.
I see now that it's 3 year free replacement. I see some say that roadrunner batteries are made by deka/ east Penn. Here it is We were out on the lake all day yesterday, when we pulled into the lot, there were 3 truck/ trailer parking spots left. We met our friends out on the lake in our bay. Even the lolligagging couple got the last spot at like 11:45. It was super easy to social distance on the lake, but the wind that changed directions all day made it tougher. It would've been a 3 anchor day yesterday, due to the changing wind directions.
East Penn has made some changes to their Deka industrial batteries, and they are no longer as good as they used to be. Not sure if their others have followed suit. I may end up sticking my Odyssey in the boat. I bought it for the wifes car, but it's too small, and the cage they sell for it to fit a regular application makes it too big. I'm going to reach out to my Odyssey corporate contacts tomorrow and ask WTF. If I don't get anywhere, in the boat it goes.
Finished the install tonight. A chore to get the big screen in, But she's in and I can still see the gauges!! Barely All brackets made by me to save jingle for more toys(lures)..........
Finally got out fishing yesterday. Water was calm with the Olympic mountains in the far background. Sunny AM then cloudy later. Fished in our T shirts. Couple of pictures running, one with the Narrows Bridges. Managed to scrape out two Lingcod. Break out the peanut oil and tartar sauce, fish fry next day or so! A friend will also bring oysters.
I missed the best fishing on the local lake because the governor shut down fishing over virus concerns. Took the boat out friday morning and didn't get a bump. Water temp was already 63° at 7am.
Looks like we'll be on the lake on Sunday. With the new pup, this could get interesting. Good thing he usually tires himself out by late am, and he should hopefully be less of a monster in the afternoon.
Fishing again. Boat high and dry. Sad for the owner but mildly funny as the name of the boat is "Apocalypse". Under the Narrows Bridges. Marina with Mt. Rainier behind.
We were up on Carry Falls Reservoir today, they were holding back water so the water level was very high causing a bunch of smaller logs to come off the banks, we didn't hit any and warned some other boaters coming on when we were leaving. The boats down here across the road are on the mud but once they start generating the water levels come up. It's the busiest we ever seen Carry on a Thursday.
