Yep. They are the same as the Earthquakes. Many names for these China saws. But they do run good with a muff mod. I wouldn't pay $100. You could get a new 50 cc Earthquake for $50. I sold my Blue Max for $100 and bought two Earthquakes
I still have a few Chinese saw's, they can be made to run surprisingly good. They can also be made fairly reliable with some careful attention to details but they will never be up there with a Stihl/Husk/Echo/Dolmar. I had a 45cc Quake outrunning an MS250.
They havent been that price in over a year. We bought them all The 45cc 18" saw was like $40-45 shipped to your door.
Its an oregon (for small poulan or husky depending on the size saw u got) bar and chain. Its worth $20-30 alone!
I've had no issues with the two earthquakes I bought. I bought a 38cc and the 45cc, both showed up at my door for less than $100. They're nothing to write home to mom about, but I had low expectations based on the cash outlay. I leave the 38cc saw at my place up north for buzzing up campfire wood. I haven't done a thing to it since I bought it except put fuel and oil in it.
They all leak bar oil like a husky. My 45cc had a carb go out. Even a rebuild did not fix it. I was going to total the saw as I was not going to spend much on it. I thought and tried the generic chinese carbs of ebay as there all the same part. For like $6-9 shipped to my door I had the saw back up and running. I did have one with a small hump in the brake band on one clutch cover. I could see where it was binding the clutch even off. Took a dremel to it and ground that spot out And it functions fine now. Chain brake still works and all.
I can give you a link, but Earthquake raised the roof on the pricing. As Clem said, they were like $47 for the 50 cc model. The 38 cc and 41 (42?) cc were less than $40 IIRC. I bought 5 of them. Two 38 cc, one 41 cc, and two 45 cc. They were definitely the best deal going. Wish I saved one of them as a loaner. My last one (pic below) I got $100 for at my last garage sale. But it was limited edition. I put lots of Stihl stickers on it (flippy cap sticker, Pro sticker, etc)
It just shipped, I should see it early next week. I'm really looking forward to learning some 2 stroke tuning in this thing.
I still think I would of bought a $20 wild thing. There actually really good saws for the money. The chinese saws are better design. The quake has an adjustable oiler, cylinder on case design, big saw qualities. I have taken the per ball out of my 45 cause it leaked. And the new carb did not have a spot for it or I plugged it I can't remember without looking at it now? Make sure to either muffler modd it or if its the 45/50cc you can buy a dual port for it off ebay if you dont want to do bit your self. And then tune the carb
Yes link to a 50cc would be great. Like I said we never found them last year or so when we were looking for the 50cc version. We only found the 38cc 41cc 45cc versions Dont care about the price. it just has to be 50cc.
Maybe I am spoiled, or thick headed, but I always stray from the low end tools of all kinds. We have all bought stuff from harbor freight, which fails when you need it. I do not want to be felling a tree, or making any critical cuts and have the saw die out. I have run Stihl and only Stihl and aside from issues with Ethanol I have never had an issue. There are mid price range saws as the average guy doesn't throw $1000 plus at a saw, but there are great finds on Craigslist every day also. I work a lot of hours, and I cut a lot of big wood, so for me messing with the cheap stuff does not make sense. I do hope for you guys that try it, they work out but I am rather skeptical. The guys rating and reviewing on Amazon likely are not part of this group, more likely suburb or city dwellers cutting brush or a random tree.....
Cut there was not a 50 in the quake flavor. They do have them on ebay in other china saws. I think there 52cc actually. The big quake is 45. The thing these china saws have that the wild ting dont is there riding on springs!!!
I have cut lots of trees already with the quakes And dropped branches with tension on them. But remember this is a 45cc saw. I am not dropping any huge precarious trees with one. A big saw is used for that. And there is no random cutouts so far. They just run. I too have a few saws. Most are eastern european in flavor or Va Beach via germany. Bit these are good for what we said. Cleanup, a truck saw, atv or tractor saw, loaner or limbing saw. If I am cutting a 24" diameter 80foot tall oak I am using the husky or stihl. Not cause I think the quake will cut out but because I like big saws and its just past the normal capability of the 18" 45cc saw. Could I do it..yes but it would take 3x as long.
Thats what I thought. No 50cc. It was brought up in a thread by a member and was looking for one and we never found a 50cc. Only 45cc and smaller and 58cc 62cc and bigger. Thanks
