Unloaded 3rd load, 2 rows about 14'x5'=1.3 cords.

While doing that had a call from my tree fairy saying he was taking down a tree at a country club but turned him down due to possible storms coming plus have too much other wood to get caught up on.

After unloading I changed my mind and thought I would run by and take a look. He loaded me up with some silver maple so easy score, but now have to try and cut the wood in the pickup so that is going to be my first chore in the morning.

I was wondering if you were feeling okay turning down free wood??? Thought maybe you had some some heat stroke or something. Glad you went and got the easy score.

Went out this morning and cut the wood off of the pickup, a lot nicer when it's on the ground before cutting.

After that went ahead and did some splitting until the sun did me in at 2:30.

Yeah its nice to work right off the truck. Kind of a rare luxury for me. All i did today was unload the beech i cut yesterday.

Bet you're happy you took that silver maple. Sure made some nice splits.

Did you folks have a change of weather there? Humidity gone. Nice and dry here.

Humidity down, but sun still warms things up, a lot. Been awhile since I worked with maple, always a pleasure to split. Next time I go out I need to bring some more totes down to stack it in, plus need a few (a lot) more at the house as all the locust will end up here plus some wood that's been split and should be nice and dry for this winter.

I can certainly appreciate the amount of work it takes to process a tree like that. :dex:

Got another small load of the honey locust and if rain holds off, hope to get the rest tomorrow so will get pictures then. After that, we ran out to Dan's Custom Sawmill for a piece of wood for a project and snapped a few pictures of his operation. Known him a few years and just a great guy. Said he could use a couple of totes so will work on getting them to him once it dries up some.

Not as productive weekend as I hoped. Did get the small load of locust yesterday. Went out and filled a tote with maple that I split last weekend, unloaded the truck, and split the remaining maple. About half way done and it started to rain. Thought I could go north and finish the locust score but before I got there it was obvious that it had rained harder that direction and I didn't want to tear up her yard pulling it out. At that point just went home and mowed the yard in the light rain.
Oh well, maybe this week I will have a short day.

Thanks Brad. Better than nothing I guess. Get the locust hauled out, I will hit the down wood around Bunny's as that should be good to go later this year as I plan to split is on the smaller side.

Load 4 back.jpg The honey locust is a wrap. More there than I thought so worth going back. Went ahead and cut up the rest so she has some wood for her firepit. May drop off some firepit wood later this year when I run into it as a thank you.
Win win for both of us.

Not a lot accomplished over the weekend due to heat and even less pictures. Went out Saturday with the weed hackers and new sprayer with Gazon. Cut down plenty of weeds and then sprayed. Didn't have a measuring cup so guessed on the amount, but sure it was on the heavy side. You can see some of them in the background of the locust stacks, 10+' tall. Went back out yesterday and finished stacking the maple in totes. After that, unloaded the last of the HL and stacked. Should have worked on more weeds that are covering the elm and hackberry logs I want to work on next, but just ran out of energy. Nice to see the weeds are wilting so, with any luck, they will start to die off. Lots of work to do this fall once it gets cooler out. Screenshot_20230820_135006_WeatherBug.jpg
Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of the wood.

Was able to get out and CSS in totes some dead elm. Had to deal with weeds to get access but should be some fine burning wood for Bunny this winter. No breeze or shade so a little warmer than the phone makes it look.
