Is the temp gage on top really a "cat probe", or just a magnetic stove top gage?

How does the ash pan "lock" into place? Kinda looks like it just slides in and out??

Yes, it's a cat probe, all BK's have a cat probe. The pan does just slid in and out, no seal. The heavy plug in the floor does all the work.
It's a very good thing to see for me, I regularly see more problems caused by faulty ashpan door seal than anything! Even if it is user neglect.

Nice looking stove! I would have highly considered it for my house had it been available

That's it? So, about the same price as what we expect the new steel stove from Woodstock will be? Good to know. I hate having price to be the reason why I don't buy something.

It's got some junk in the trunk! But, the benefit is that it has a close clearance on the back and deep firebox to show for it!

Ah man, do tell me I'm going to be disappointed.

I'm guessing 3k is the price since it is a cast iron stove. Dammit.

I think it is 3k................He quoted that.............That was the price in his area which is Indiana so its probably the same for the east.

And yeah its because of the cast iron and also it comes with an ash pan built in,

Crap. When looking to replace multiple stoves in the future, an extra grand translate to 2-3 thousand. Which is the price equivalent of another stove.

I've been fighting excess air coming in through the ash dump on the Buck 91 since I put that stove in. [Measured it the other day: 3.5 x 5.5"] Got that problem pretty well under control, but now I'm wondering if I could come up with a plug that would work better than the gasket/dump door lid system. That would stretch out the burn time further (already pretty good, easy 12 hrs. on soft Maple or Cherry) and possibly keep the glass cleaner, with more air coming through the air wash.

Ya, 3K is what I meant. Don't know what I was thinking. Sorry for the confusion.

webby, if you can make the time, I would greatly appreciate the actual usable firebox dimensions.
I need a comparison to my current stove, and the only dealer close to me doesn't stock BKs, or I'd go looky loo for myself.
