Split & stacked the small amount of barkless from last week. Three cord rack for such has room.
New on the right, last years (to be sold yet) on left. IMG_2292.JPG
The BL from this thread is stored at two separate locations.

Havent been able to cut any BL as of late. Made it back to the "do you see what i see" score and cut the rest. Maybe quarter cord. Ash was too punky and didnt take any. IMG_2371.JPG IMG_2372.JPG IMG_2373.JPG IMG_2374.JPG IMG_2375.JPG Tally close to three cord now.

Yesterdays "black locust road trip" thread was another unintended score but goes toward the tally. IMG_2399.JPG IMG_2398.JPG Id say a half cord. Now around 3.5 cords total.

Sorry 1-3 cord voters, you're out!

Hoping to get back to an area ive hit once in this thread. 3 1/2 months left to go...the pressure is on! :tree: :saw:

Hit an old BL honey hole this afternoon. Fourth year ive cut from here. Small to medium sized blowovers with no bark. Nicely washed by mother nature. Having to go farther in to get them out. IMG_2427.JPG IMG_2428.JPG IMG_2429.JPG IMG_2430.JPG Before. IMG_2431.JPG After IMG_2433.JPG Face cord from todays cut. Tally now close to four cords. Only barkless stored at this location. Still a few more trees at that honey hole. Ill hit it at least once more this season.

Black locust gold! My fav BL looks just like that. No bark, no mess, rounds are easy to work with, and pretty much ready to go.

Yeah, mine too. Its a beautiful thing like that. Few more trees like that in here. Farther in though.
Most of the spots i have lined up have bark on stuff fallen by the August 2020 storms here. Bark mostly lose but that nasty black schmutz under it. Have you ever timed how long before BL takes to get nice and clean like that? Another area has trees blown over from a June 2018 storm here. Im saying 3-4 years.
Sometimes ill remove bark with the intent of going back the following season.

I never have. There is standing dead I'm watching and the bark is still on. It's loose in many places but still hanging on. We've been here for 5 years and that tree was dead when we moved in.

Hot this little stash today. Had a delivery close by so i was in the area. Full barkless blowover with a couple smaller trees, and some clean up wood. IMG_2547.JPG IMG_2548.JPG Close to a half cord. IMG_2549.JPG IMG_2550.JPG IMG_2551.JPG Some of it many years old semi "petrified". IMG_2552.JPG IMG_2553.JPG Split all the rounds IMG_2558.JPG Smalls to be bucked yet. IMG_2557.JPG Close to a half cord from today which makes the current tally 4 1/3 cords.

If you maintain your current pace buZZsaw BRAD you'll end up with around 9 cord over approx 5 months. We’re rooting for ya!

Thanks. If mother nature (too much rain) and the wood gods cooperated i'd be well over five cords at this point in time. Other scores keep interrupting my progress. :picard:

Processed the rest yesterday and stacked. Litter bag is BL splitter crumbs/shards. Excellent firestarter. IMG_2559.JPG IMG_2560.JPG Rack will hold three cord when full. Half cord from last year to be sold yet.

Do you save the scraps for fire starter for yourself or to customers when they buy firewood from you? Couple more months left to hoard black locust:yes:

Sometimes i use it and sometimes give it away. I enjoy throwing handfuls on the fire when i burn out side. Lots of crackling.

It's worth mentioning that the last time I saw Brad back in December, he brought me up 2 large grocery bags full of black locust splitter trash that I'm still using as fire starter. :handshake:

Good stuff. That load from this week filled about half that bag pictured. The dead barkless makes a lot of it. Its the only splitter trash i save!

Todays cut ("Just Another Manic Monday" thread) yielded a half cord which brings the tally close to five cords. This went towards filling a three cord rack. IMG_2673.JPG IMG_2674.JPG IMG_2675.JPG

Todays half cord load from the "manic Monday" score brings the total to 5 1/3 cords. You 3-5 cord voters are out. Congrats to anyone who voted 5-7. You are the current winners...that is if i dont do over seven cords. Two months left. IMG_2730.JPG IMG_2733.JPG
