Boxelder is known for pink flame in the woodworking industry. That's my guess. It has an awful smell, like cottonballs.

Very "kind" of you but that wasnt an option. Unless you voted more than nice cords!

Added rounds from yesterday to the stack. Before IMG_2081.JPG IMG_2080.JPG After IMG_2082.JPG
Maybe a half cord. Came back later from today's cut and added more. IMG_2086.JPG Id say a couple face cord. Score yesterday was an unexpected bonus. No complaints here.

Well todays cut was a surprise volume wise. I was going to cut some BL yesterday at a different location, but ran out of time. Was coming here to top off a load of other wood from down the street but it was gone. I wasnt expecting to get this much. All "clean up" logs, tops and limb wood. Asplundh had taken a couple green ones out very recently. May 2018 a small tornado came through here and some of this was from that storm. I had knocked to get the okay before but today someone was home and answered.
Cut some and "excavated" some. The newest wood was 4.5 years down and some was a lot older. IMG_2101.JPG IMG_2102.JPG IMG_2104.JPG IMG_2106.JPG IMG_2107.JPG IMG_2108.JPG More blowover remnants from that storm. Looked like maple and hickory and well beyond its shelf life. IMG_2103.JPG
Several standing BLs there. 28" DBH on this one. Loppers for scale. IMG_2105.JPG
Got it all. Nice HEAPING PU full. IMG_2109.JPG IMG_2110.JPG IMG_2111.JPG IMG_2113.JPG
Before. Conservative guess is two face cords. IMG_2114.JPG After. Started a second row. Another couple face cord from this load so 1.33 cords is the current tally. IMG_2115.JPG IMG_2116.JPG
Maybe ill cut more next week...maybe!

Bout to turn that truck into a lowrider! You stated earlier that you don't have that much bl....but you really do. I know you search it out special and work hard for it, but the amount that seems to be around your area for you to even stumble upon is tons more than here. Due to this forum I keep an eye out and pay attention to bl, which is fairly uncommon to rare here.

Only the limb wood was in length. A bit of it and i didnt feel like cutting it roadside. I had put it aside to be sure i had enough room. If bucked it wouldnt fit

There's enough around but it is somewhat scarce tree. We had two storms in August 2020 that put a lot of it on the ground. I think Isaias hit you folks too???

I seem to have a sixth sense for it. Im always looking at trees and can spot BL any time of the year now. :loco:

buZZsaw BRAD once deer season is done, I'll join in the BL scrounge game with you. We can add my total to yours to get to the 20 cords!

I have a small hoard of dead standing and a couple down BL I've spied while sitting in stand during archery. I struck out archery and rifle comes in saturday, so I don't want to be messing up my deer hunting. Hopefully I fill my deer tags and then fill my trailer with BL rounds. I love BL but I love backstraps and fish loin much more!!:beerbbq:

Most of the black locust around here(let’s say over 15 inch in dia.) has a lot of rot in center in different places up and down the trunk!! Doesn’t seem as bad in most pics I see here from different parts of states‍♂️

Id say one in three IME have rot in the middle. One reason they seem to blow over easily. Do you harvest a lot of it Hickorynut?

I have found that even the rot has some good BTU's and coals in it and worth saving.
