I ran to the grocery store for pizza fixins and picked up my paycheck from work. Since I was out, I had already planned on geting a new pair of boots. It seemed like just another day wherever I was. Around 9:00-11:00 this morning. Feel sorry for the people in cities/populated areas.
I ran my stihl, and my neighbor's new ms362 m tronic in a downed pine. That's my idea of black Friday.
Yes, I went. But not early! Slept in 'til 7:30 and was still able to find 95% of what I went for. A lot of the crazy crowd stuff was done with by that time, people were very civilized and lines moved pretty quickly. Picked up some furnace filters and stainless stovepipe while I was out too.
Well after buying 11 bags of dog food, and 4 trips to fleet farm, I've had enough, glad I slept in and left the crazy to the crazies, the purina sport dog food we usually buy for $42 a bag was on sale for$26 and I hate spending$42 on dog food so we might have stocked up a little bit. But with an ever hungry bloodhound and 2 black and tans we go through a lot. Also bought some tie down straps. A buddy bought 10 2 inch heavy truck straps, along with a couple other items, his receipt showed a "savings" of $96 for spending $80. How often does that happen!!! Straps were basically buy one get 2 free, at 5 bucks a pop 14 non sale price. Going to stick to the plan we have the last couple years, only buy stuff we will buy no matter what, if it's a good deal, or like the splitter last year, I couldn't necessarily afford it but I definetly couldn't afford not to have it for the price, brand new was $200-$400 cheaper than used craigslist prices. I don't care to deal with the people so we don't go out of our way to save a buck on black Friday.
As I know it's standard protocol, there's some pics of the pups, top picture is our bloodhound on the left, Buck, on the right our black and tan Luka, and the bottom our 8 year old puppy, a black and tan beagle mix, Tana.
That looks like my house complete with spent marrow bones and kong toys...love the Hounds I'm at about $40/week on Hound food
I went out shortly after noon. Went to my favored Harley dealer and got a pair of boots at about $45 off. Officially their Black Friday was 8-11, and at noon they had a flash sale (which I had been privy to previously). Missed the crowds and talked with a couple of people I hadn't seen in a couple of months. Went to L*wes to check on a couple of items. Walked out of the store empty-handed because I decided I didn't really "need" those things - they would have made life easier (especially working on the house), but decided I could live without. Wasn't any more crowded than a Saturday and everyone was polite and saying "excuse me", "please" and "thank you".. Went to Wally World to get some regular items (dishwasher soap, contact cleaner, ACV, cat treats etc). Not even as crowded as most Saturdays, and seemed that all the people were there doing their regular shopping. I found the whole experience surreal as no one was in a hurry, and again, everyone was polite to each other (except those two ladies that parked their carts at an angle in the food aisle, blocking traffic - but ONLY 2 people doing that in the whole store!). A much more pleasant experience than I usually experience there. Stopped at Petco for cat food. Sadly they didn't have the only brand that Rita seems to be able to stomach (they usually have it). That was the parking lot that was most full % wise. But they share a parking lot with the LL Bean outlet - and the outlet was the busy place. I always park quite a ways from the stores, to force myself to walk, so rarely have parking issues. However, none of the parking lots were even near full. there were no arguments over closer parking spots as there were several available. Also, drivers for the most part were courteous - even to cars merging onto the highway (rarely the case). I usually avoid Black Friday - but heck, I wish every shopping excursion was as positive an experience as mine yesterday afternoon!
up at 3:50 AM and headed out to work like normal, my employer is a sub contractor for oops and the purple delivery co, we have to keep 'em flying just like every other day. The madness doesn't end until the last plane is landed Christmas eve, starts up again the 27th, then roars on for another week or so into the new year, thanks to all the gift card shoppers. (with a slight pause for New Years)
Beat me, shoot me, stab me, drag me behind a manure wagon while it's spreading, anything but doing the Black Friday thing!
Been shopping for a generator and saw a good deal advertised for black Friday. There's no way I'd actually go to a store for that circus. But I ordered it online Thursday night for the sale price with free shipping.
