Burn the evidence after it dries up for a couple of years. The fire doesn't care if it's ugly or not.
I always have some shorts from cutting logs. Everyone gets a few in their loads. I also always have a bin or 2 stashed for people with small backyard firepits. I had a junky old bin I had picked up along the way and had been throwing shorts and scraps in. It was about 3x3x3. I was kinda tired of looking at it.Some people stopped Saturday looking for some campfire wood. They were excited when I told them $25. Bin and all down the road.
bucked the load yesterday. The gnarliest BL ive cut. Some wild grain. There was a range of heartwood color Eric Schamell & sirbuildalot. Three trees and one was partly dead. One dead. Usual batch of chunkies from roadside scrounges.
Oooh, that is some gnarly stuff! Noodling is the only answer. Going to give it to your friend with a boiler?
One thing I like about hacked up butchered wood is... it tends to be light enough so I can pick it up and throw it into my car!
I put the nuggets in the full cord nugget bin (see thread of same name) the splits/noodled will go into the BL stacks.
I just halved them and they havent been turned into firewood as of yet. I really admired the grain several times and may try to slab a piece off them. Wondering if the triple log will fall apart though. I did save the cookie.
yes, it's hard to get some of the coolest ones to stay together. It's easy for me cuz I cut a lot of neat looking crotches on the sawmill and when I have so many, so what if half of them split in a bad spot. The ones that don't come out nice go in the wood stove. The nice ones make good gifts.
I saved the cookie in pic five. Maybe an inch and a half thick and 8" diameter. Dead tree. Not sure what ill do with it, but the grain was too cool. I have a couple logs with the burlish grain i didnt split.
Moved and stacked it today. Few left to noodle. Before and after. Little more needed to fill it up. 1.5 cords per rack. Maybe ill cut some more tomorrow?
