Funny BRAD , My friend from work has a large ash at his house he has asked me about cutting him some slabs , I told him yes since he doesn't have a saw anywhere close to big enough to cut it. Getting him to do anything is like pulling teeth and I am NOT going to beg him to go do his work , help = yes / do it = Nope. Good kid but needs some sort of kick in the butt to get him to move. Big Ash must be in season around here.
Maybe it’s just me…. But it seems like if the whole situation was exactly the same except that the tree species was black locust…… we would be seeing pictures of a pile of splits, or at least a white Ford pickup full of rounds and quarter rounds
I have a 36 bar i rarely use but have it for wood that big of course. Being embedded in the dirt and not being able to roll it i dont feel like messing with it.
Brad, where there's a will, there's a way. Noodle down as far as you can this way: Stop before you hit dirt, obviously, but then buck a round, again stopping. At that point, you can use a pry bar to break the chunk free for further noodling. I did that on this one and it works pretty good: It was a big ol' pig.. Massive 118yr old + Oak base
Honestly im not a big fan of noodling. Ive seen it done horizontal as well. Maybe this old fart is just getting tired.
