I think my decent desk top computer with the double screens is really a time and money saver. Any thing I think I need, I can look it up fast, compare prices, and get what I really want. If I want to know how to fix something, I usually go to YouTube. I've saved a bunch of money fixing my own appliances etc. Plus I don't go out to the movies anymore. I can find just about anything right on the computer.
I had a former boss that always said he wanted to be buried face down....so people could Kiss his a$$ when they visited him!
Biggest time and back saver for yard work is my 4 wheel dump cart. I've moved tons and tons of dirt (filled to full-sized truck beds to the top of the cab plus another small truck), a couple of yards of pea gravel, and many tons of pellets in that thing. Have also used it for a step stool and to move piles of brush/tree limbs, transport potted plants etc.
my most recent is a echo gas hand held blower/vac combo. having a few rental properties that we cut and trim with the echo string trimmer the lawn. then to finish things off blowing everything clean gives it a real professional looking job. sure beats the broom and rake. i currently have a 42" john deere walk behind looking to get a rider or zero turn.
Amazing some of the things a person never would think of but each one has a place where it makes a particular job so much easier! I have a feeling this thread may cause me to spend some money!
Backpack sprayer doesn't save a lot of time but makes the job a lot more enjoyable. I bought a nice Chapin and don't regret it.
Small 1 man 2 cycle auger Big air compressor and tools Biggest backpack blower $ can buy Airless paint sprayer Sometimes though, the best time saver is just paying a pro. I had a shed built on site in 7 hours. Thats faster than I could have even bought, loaded, hauled, and unloaded the materials to said site. Not to mention, I've got no help. The price wasn't much more than I could even buy the materials for. I think it was $700 over my cost for the goods and fuel and it would have taken me 20 hours to build it minimum.
Paying a pro is sometimes not only a time saver (especially for those of us that have no help), but even a money saver - if I tried to build a shed it would cost twice as much (fixing my f-ups), much shoddier work and I would be lucky if it last 2 years .
One of the best things I ever got was a wife. She does most of the cleaning, does the grocery shopping, and I get regularly home cooked meals as opposed to the diet of fast food and chips and salsa I used to live on! Of course she's expensive, all of my cheap Craigslist furniture is rapidly being replaced by really expensive new stuff. Same with the old kitchen appliances that were 30 years old but worked great still, it's all new now. And I sure get an earful when I make messes. And really, all that time that I don't spend cleaning or cooking anymore is being taken up by repainting rooms or putting together furniture or hanging crap on the walls. So scratch that, wives aren't time savers. I recommend instead getting a maid and the occasional hooker. I'm voting ZTR.
I don't know how to respond to a post like this. But must agree that a wife is great Proverbs 18:22! The honey do list they can/do create can exceed the time they save. The key is to periodically lose the list Marriage is one of those jobs the pay is not that good but the benifits are great! On a more serious note, Marriages do take a lot of work without the work they fall apart just like a job if you don't put your time and appropriate effort in you will be told to leave.
Replaced a cheap 20 year old, beat to he$$ tin shed (10 x 12) with this one. Wife and I spent 3 weeks and $1800 in material to create it. I priced a "pro-built" version of this, and they wanted $3600. Made my own trusses, it has pine board and batten siding and a cut-down recycled garage door. 100% weather proof, rodent free. It was a lot of work and our first attempt @ something like this, but we're happy, happy.....happy........
I bought this shed for 5k delivered. My brother and I calculated the cost of materials and were at 4k+ when we stopped. I have a nice one car garage for the tractor and ZTR, and can take it with me when I build a house (hopefully next year.)
Whenever my marriage hits a rough patch I just say "woman get back in the kitchen where you belong". Works every time.
Truth! She'll forget about whatever was pizzing her off beforehand for sure! I assume you are in great shape and can run for miles.....
Biggest time saver, my predator 20 ton splitter Best time saver, throwing the oldest kids a five bucks each to mow the lawn. I haven't mowed in five years Best purchase, my NIB CS590 for $299, and my CS490 for $230
