Trying to decide between Rec Tec, Louisiana Grills, or Grilla Grills. All seem pretty moderately priced, but I'm wondering what the pro/cons are.
I'm a Grilla fan. I've had mine for three years. Load it with pellets, turn it on, set the temp, add meat, come back later and eat. Built like a tank. It'll probably outlast me. They recently cut their prices in half and are more in line with the rest of the market. Looks like you're in Holland where they're made, so take a run down to the factory on 64th street and take a look. I got a factory tour when I went there to get pets for my furnace several years ago. Neat place, nice group of people.
D*mn spell check. Parts, I say, parts.... Lucky for all the critters around me, no pets are required for my furnace to operate.
I have a Louisiana Grills pellet grill. That's the only one I have experience with but I like it. If I was doing it over, I'd still buy it.
Ditto except i have the PG-1000 from englander. Bottom line, i dont think you can go wrong with a pellet grill if its in the budget. When mine dies i will be building one from parts available online.
The Englander pellet grill is very rugged and the parts are inexpensive. It does smoke or sear. No WiFi just yet though. Englander Smoke-N-Sear 788 sq. in. Pellet Smoker and Grill 21-PG100 at The Home Depot - Mobile If you want a pellet grill built like a Sherman Tank there is nothing better than a Yoder!!! I have a friend that owns one. Here is their competition model!!! it cooked fine, but its heavy so it takes longer to heat/equalize....i think it was like 380lbs the 640 means 640 square inches of cooking surface which is not huge by any means...but its big enough for a small party, plus you can add an extra rack(which i did) to increase cook area. pellet usage was more than i liked with it being so heavy, lots o steel to heat up....on the flipside would hold heat a little better. poor workmanship on the top lid(im not a fuss azz)had to cut one of the hinges off and re-weld cause it was about 3/4" out of alignment on closing(i cant believe they let this ship) sent pics.....nobody cares. anyways sold it cause thats what i do,buy smokers and test then move on. it cooks fine just uses more pellets....$18-$20 a bag(20lb) for treager pellets and cook a brisket or 2 on saturday, then sunday do some butts, and tuesday do beer can chickens, and thursday do ribs = $100 in pellets or close.
edit to above the yoder cooks fine and is heavy build just not for someone who cooks 4-5 days a week...i could own a new twin turbo F-150 for the cost of the pellets.....and i do.
Same here. I go through maybe 60 pounds of pellets each season. Not much more costly than charcoal all things considered.
