In this area, the BBS were getting $269/$299 for their "pellet de jour"... Local dealer had La Crete for $279..... Good stuff here in the NE, is running near $300 at a lot of places. Dan
Both Lowe's and Home Depot seemed to have got into the "let's make some money on pellets" mode, rather than the "Let's get people in the door" mode. Both stores now, have their low end pellets at $259/$269.. But their better stuff is $299. Nation's Choice $299??? They had to lose tons of money last year shipping Blazers in, and selling them for the cheap.. But there were obligations to be met. It just won't happen again. (IMO) If it does, I suspect someone in purchasing will be flipping burgers on Monday... Again... just an opinion. But. If they do, get all you can, I would too!! Dan
They were $279 from last winter until just a little while ago. They are now $285... Still about the best price around that we can see.. A lot of places advertise them, but they don't always have them.. They are always in stock here. Oh... Barrington, NH Dan
Good stuff Dan. When the HDs around here (and by around here, I mean the east coast in general) start selling Blazers this year, they will go for the lower price. HD does not share the same opinion as we do with regard to what the "good stuff" is. They sell the Blazers at the same price as the "run of the mill" stuff, at least they have every year so far...So that would be $269 this year. Get yourself a 10% off coupon, and you just bought yourself some Blazers for ~$240/ton. Not a bad deal right there. It's a bit early in the season to be seeing them, IIRC they didn't appear until around mid-October last year. Also, it's not as much of a stretch as some folks think about the shipping aspect. The boxes send trucks back and forth all the time, so why not send them with a seasonal product on board, as opposed to an empty backhaul?
I'm going to change that to: They sold the Blazers at the same price as the "run of the mill" stuff... I just got a feeling it ain't gonna happen again.... I hope it works your way, I don't like to see anyone pay more for stuff than they need to!! We'll just have to wait and see! Dan
Why do you think they were losing money? Blazers can be bought retail for about $179 on the West Coast, HD is buying them ugh cheaper than that wouldn't you agree? Blazers have been at HD a few times in the last couple of years. I personally do not think we will see them this year either, pellets seem to be in heavy supply at least for now. We will see. But if they do show up I expect them to be at the usual price.
And they own their logistics. They roll those trucks back and forth from warehouse to warehouse no matter whats on the trailers. Whether its 10 tons of pellets or half a load of hardware.
Not much lower, especially this year. Cost on the Blazers here, shipped, is more than what they were selling them for......... Here, shipping freight kills us on everything Of course, BBS get lower prices than smaller dealers. But not "that" low... Dan
If the box stores are running their own rigs to distribute the cost of fuel is down* so that will help them also... *For them this could be a double edged sword. With fuel cheaper, demand should be lower also. KaptJaq
Where are your figures to back this up, you have no idea what the boxes paid before shipping. Could be $10 bucks a ton, we have no idea.
Hold on, Bud... Not trying to start a war here... I said: "Cost on the Blazers here, shipped, is more than what they were selling them for........." They were selling them last year, here, (meaning NE) for less than what local dealers pay for them. BBS don't pay "that " much less, than dealers. WOW is not going to lose money, just to sell to BBS... You know that. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. Dan
The fact of the matter is you or anyone else does not know what the boxes did pay for them. It's all assumptions. WOW very well may sell to them for a loss, especially if they had too much inventory, cash flow issues, etc.
