Do you wear any heavier gloves in the winter? I like the gloves you use but once it gets below freezing they don’t keep my fingers warmer. Maybe it’s just me or my past letting my fingers get frozen to many times when I was younger but I’ve would be willing to pay a good buck for a pair of gloves that would keep my fingers warm & still offer a decent level of dexterity. Should have listened to dad all those mornings we had frozen/broken barn cleaner chain & I’d be tearing into it bear handed& he’d be telling me to wear gloves so I didn’t freeze my fingers! Why are we so reluctant to listen to sound experienced wisdom when we are young lads & why can’t we realize the ones that loved us were telling us for our own good?
The best gloves I've had for really cold weather were goatskin with thinsulate lining. They were bulky however. They were supposedly windproof but not necessarily waterproof, iirc. Lately I've been buying cheaper gloves due to wearing them out so quickly on bark handling firewood. Cherry and pine can dispatch the fingertips in rather short order. That and losing them ( or just one, LOL ) from taking them off when needing my fingertips to handle something. If not one of a pair lost or holes in just one of a pair, I've had my share of mismatch gloves to work outside with.
Planning on buying some of the Thermafit gloves from Atlas, but so far the regular ones have been fine. Hasn't gotten very cold up here though.
You can get them on ebay, search for Keiler Handschuhe. Sizewise 10.5 is a tight fit, my next order will be a 11... or i just shrink my paws. Discripton might be in german, if needed i can translate it for ye.
The Atlas Thermafit Are really not much warmer than the regular ones, these Polar Penguin's ware really good and are Warmer than the Atlas Thermafit . The Polar Penguin's are not Good for 15 degrees though
Insulated linesmen gloves leather and leather bomber hat icemen boots and extreme carhart jacket and pants. Your good for -20f and lite face mask . Trick is not to sweat . Ice on eye lashes is only issue I haven't fixed. Sent from my LGL84VL using Tapatalk
The Kinco cowhide gloves do not hold up as well as the buffalo hide gloves, but do fit better. The cowhide premium gloves fit like a...glove. The buffalo gloves are tough but have long fingers and a less "refined" feel to them. I will keep buying them though because they are pretty warm and very tough.
These are my go to gloves. Can usually get at least 3 weeks to a month out of a pair. Very comfortable and keep my hands warm. Plus they are cut resistant.
These are what I wear in winter. SHOWA Atlas 451 Insulated Gloves. Keeps my hands warm enough when I am working. I've used them in single digits. I don't like big/bulky gloves when running a chainsaw, I like to have some dexterity. Seems like my hands will start to get cold shortly after going outside but after a little bit of working in the woods they warm right back up.
I've been using the non insulated showa atlas and they seem to keep my hands warm in winter. Well, until they get soaked from snow melting, then I grab the spare pair. I too hate bulky gloves while sawing.
I actually have two cases of each of the insulated and non-insulated in the basement They hold up incredibly well for what they are!
