If it were locust, I bet buZZsaw BRAD would go in my Corolla trunk.. I don’t know if his saws would fit.
On a separate note. Get in an accident or even an emergency stop with a log splitter in the back of an SUV and you’ll regret that decision. Had a friend roll a blazer off an embankment at highway speeds with a bunch of short rebar in the back. Truck looked like someone took a ma deuce to it. Amazingly he didn’t get hit. Just a consideration.
When they are low like that ( mine is low as well)the best thing is to elevate them. I leave mine low when I have big rounds to split, and use splits or other ramps to roll the big boys up. I'm still fairly young, so I can do this, but eventually a splitter with a log lift will be part of my arsenal.
Thats a great reminder to use ratchet straps to secure the splitter. Seat mounts usually work great and you can get the hooks for the straps to attach there. Our 4runner has a couple of tie down points in back. They are not heavy duty, but I bet they would hold a splitter in place in case of emergency braking.
I’d borrow a pick-up truck from a friend to get it up there and on the return trip give them a truck bed full of cut and split oak.. I’m assuming the splitter will stay on site for the duration of the project.. I transport my Cub Cadet 25t in the back of my truck all the time.. the extra effort in your situation would be well worth the gain in splitting power.. I know that doesn’t address your question directly.
Here is possibility , maybe ?? Feed BRAD some cheap Mexican food ; some Tacos and Beans might be good. Wait one hour , Give him the good old X27 and put him in the back seat. You now have a gas powered splitter that easily fits in your car.
He is walking distance from me. If he doesn't want to walk I will call Uber for him , or maybe in the bed of my truck. Seriously he really a great guy ! Would do anything for you and give you the shirt off his back. ; if you don't mind some black locust dust on it. Proud to say I met him through this site and closer than I would have ever thought. Small world for sure.
