Mine came fitted with the shorter black knobber. In the bag was the longer red one. The instruction book is in black and white. There’s nothing stamped to say witch’s which.
I guess you have to hold one up and see witch is bigger, taller. The one that came installed is for .325 & 3/8...I'm gonna try the tall one on 3/8 like huskihl did.
What do y'all use to clean your chains before grinding? Also how do you clean a CBN wheel if it gets dirty? Santa hunny is bringing me a new wheel for Christmas.
you’ll find that the CBN wheel is way more accepting of dirt on chain than a stone wheel . So, cleaning can be as little as just “airing off “ the chain . If the chain is really bad , old mix will remove most of the mung . Pro tip : Let it dry before grinding ... as far as the wheel , use the aluminum oxide bar that comes with it occasionally . Maybe hit it with a cleaning cloth to see if it’s holding a lot of dirt . They’re pretty maintenance free . Also , being as about the only thing coming off the wheel when grinding will be metal , a couple of strong magnets behind the wheel will catch a lot of that . Helps keep things easier to clean up .
Just ordered a CBN wheel for my Super Jolly. I had 2 Amazon gift cards from a hotel rewards program. Ater tax and shipping it only cost me $20. We'll see how it works after the holidays. Any tips or tricks for its use?
They’re actually easier and more forgiving than stone wheels . No shaping , a little occasional inspection and cleaning . They generate less heat when grinding as well .
These are pretty badass wheels. Not a replacement for CBN, but they seem to hold their shape really well and not heat up the cutters as much. This one is for 3/8 and .404. LP and .325 would require the 1/8” wide wheel rather than 3/16 Tecomec OEM Grinding Wheel VITRIFIED 3/16" Chainsaw Chain Sharpening OR534-316 | eBay
Got mine from the big A. Super Abrasive CBN 5-3/4" Chainsaw Wheels for 3/8 and .404 Steel Pitch Chains I had a couple gift cards from hotel stays so I ended up paying around $20 for it.
All I have is my old 511a iirc. But I replaced my CBN wheels with the ABN Dynasaw ones and the difference is amazing. A little bit coarser and a lot cooler cutting.
