I thought there was a thread about this, but couldn't find it.
I looking to get a better chain grinder. Which brand and models have y'all had the best luck with? A square grinder isn't in the budget right now...I have a HF that a friend gave me, but it is SLOPPY.....

I got an Oregon 520-120 a couple months ago. I just got tired of the hit and miss with my HF grinder.
So far, every loop I've sharpened with the Oregon 520 has cut excellent.
I'm glad I decided to spend the bucks for a quality machine.

I have a Super Jolly and I love it. It's easy, fast and accurate. I used a Timberline sharpener for years but after the Super Jolly I'll never look back.

Since all my chains are full chisel, 3/8 .50 Stihl all I had to do was set it up once and just keep sharpening. The hydro vice is a big time saver. Maybe 5 minutes for a 25" chain.

I have the Northern tool Grinder that's about $100 on sale. It's an Oregon copy and timber tuff also makes the same one or rebrands it out if the Chinese factor that Northern uses. I can produce pretty good chain if I take my time and set it up

I went back and saw that. Wonder if that is what the company is replacing the Oregon unit with...

That eBay grinder is basically the same one I had. When I bought mine they were not that cheap anywhere. Not same brand but same unit just colored different and diff name. That's cheaper than mine. I think I paid like $89 with coupons on mine.

Exactly the same machine. It's made by Techomic for Oregon. Not sure of the spelling of the parent company.

If you are just doing your own chains, and aren't in a hurry an oregon knock off will work. They have a little slop in them so you have to take your time and pay attention to what you are doing.

I have a Ryobi think it came from Lowe’s, also have the HF oregan copy. Both work fine. Like they said little slop in tooth holder and upgrade to oregan wheels. I have never had anything but compliments on how sharp they make chains.

    I’m shopping now...

Stuck between the Oregon 620 and the 520 and a Super Jolly.

The amazon Super Jolly’s, one is pretty clear on the hydraulic assist while the other one doesn’t

    Thoughts?

I have the Super Jolly and love it. No hydraulic assist on the 520.

I saw that and that’s why I knew to look at them.

I guess I need to read harder on Amazon. I see two Super Jollys. One is about 90 bux more and really shows the hydraulic.
The other one not so much, but kind hints at the hydraulics.

Someone on the forum gave me the name of a company to order it from and save about $100. I'm looking for the name now.
