Very Beautiful Shepard. .. They are very loyal. Oscar was definitely a protective dog. If I even "fake" wrestled with my Wife? He would growl and give me the "Evil Eye". Loved him like I never loved another dog. He was about 8.5 yrs old when he left us. Still miss him.
No big dogs here. I grew up with Old English Sheepdogs and a Newfoundland, so I didn't quite know what to do when my wife showed up with this 8 pound ball of fur that is a bichon/westie/Maltese mix. She's a good dog though. Below are a couple pics from this past summer. One of the dog playing watchdog sitting on my lap, and another of her jumping waves in Lake Huron. Yes, that's a life jacket on the dog.
Here's the hot dog gang....Pumpkin is the long hair, Pudge the tan shorthair, Puddles is the black dapple, and Leo the black. Leo went missing a year ago. I don't know how well the last pics will show on a big screen. The 1st is sweet tart who is the sweethearts daughter. Sweetheart is the second pic.
Cool pictures of everyones buddys. Walker how old is your Pyrenees? This was on the CNN site 'again' and just reminding everyone to check the treat package you have up on the fridge. http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/22/us/fda-jerky-pet-treats-warning/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 loon
Hey Loon, she's, uh, geez, I'm not sure. I think 6? Love her to death, except my property looks like a concentration camp after 6 years of her finding the weak spots in my fencing and me "there I fixed it"-ing them. Usually involves a board, log, or rock. Hahaha. She's pretty good at going under, over, or through anything designed to keep her from "protecting" the surrounding 15 sq. miles.
I had a GSD growing up. They are very protective of kids. I can remember we had a big hill behind my parents house and it would herd me away from it. Whenever a stranger would pull in the driveway and I was out playing it was "game on" and she wouldn't let anyone within 20 feet of me. My next dog will either be a GSD or some type of a mastiff. My buddy had a cane corso (Italian Mastiff) that was a GREAT dog for a family. I had been to this guy's house 100's of times but didn't dare enter uninvited. That dog would sit in the corner and give me the stink eye with a "I'm gonna F you up as soon as the boss tells me its OK" look on his face. But with his kids they could have beat the dog within an inch of its life and it wouldn't make a noise.
We have looked at Labs, German Shepards, and the Mastiff/Corso's. Even thought about an Akita. But heard to many bad things (heard good things too). I want the German Shep... I loved that Dog so much. Loyal is an understatement. Very loving dogs
Lukem, That made me laugh out loud while I was standing at kids soccer game off by myself. I think the rest of the parents think I'm a little odd. I have them just the way I want them. Lofl
Just remember that GSD needs his exercise and a job. If they are left alone for too long and get bored bad things happen. I learned this lesson the hard way with my first GSD Dakota. He chewed up 52 turned balusters on my staircase while I was at work one day. When I got home it looked like someone let a fricken beaver loose in the house. There were wood splinters everywhere.
Thats alot of roaming for her Walker and she's a beauty.. We gave up along time ago trying to keep them in a kennel. Murphy on the right would climb anything he could and Emma still climbs fences like nothing.. But she cant stand the underground electric fence we have on the property which is 5acres with about 3 e-fenced. He was 2 when we had to put him down and his little sister Emma is 4 now. He loved climbing up on machinery and will post a few pics
Max and Mazey. (Both chocolate labs) Max is a bit over 100 lbs. he is 7 and so gentle. Mazey was 3, she died suddenly of bloat last March. Molly is 8 months. (Black lab) She is taller and longer than Max. Having a hard time teaching her not to jump up on people. She can put both paws on my shoulders.
Funny you should ask!! Sophie the Golden Doodle also known as the "Princess" Stella the Pitbull that someone who shall remain anonymous liberated from being chained to a tree with no shelter and the chain wearing into her neck! Some people should not have animals! Gary
He gets a leg from every deer I get. He can usually make it gone in about an hour...skin, hoof, and all. It's pretty impressive. He's too slow and clumsy to run down a deer...and he'd just want to play with it if he did catch it.
Foreground is Carissa, and the other is her son, Casper. He was darn near white when born, hence the name for those old enough to remember the ghost. She's about 70 lbs. and he's ....well, I don't really know. I'd guess he's 80-85 lbs. or so. VERY gentle guy, and my best bud. Mom has been on a tear going after the Dachshund, so she's on a leash quite often. Power struggle since the Newfie died, and Carissa will win. Already posted Abby, and I'll get a pic of Cooper soon (another YL).
Here is my best buddy. She has been with me almost everyday for the last 7 and 1/2 years. Ruger, or we call her Roo. She likes the winter a whole lot more than the summer. The snow pic is how she is during the winter, just lays in the snow keeping guard all day. The middle pic is her checking on my take off's! haha
