Actually, about the same because I grow their feed right here so all I buy is the supplements. Not including processing cost. Not sure what that will be yet, everything is going up almost daily.

I have a local guy who sells it for $7/lb processed and packaged. Almost bought some, but have to buy at minimum a quarter. Don't have the money right now.

The gas station down the road has racks of firewood for sale. Not sure how big they are exactly, but I would guess 16" splits and the rack is 18" x 36". For round numbers we'll call it 6 cubic feet or 1/20th of a cord. $30....$600/cord.

Not a lot yet. less than 1% and only at peak demand for the day..But in New England we are starting to burn oil to generate electricity again for the season.

I need to get on this train, My parents did growing up. With 3 big growing boys, they HAD to, We have a chest freezer now, and that's now you take advantage of it. Cousins of mine have an organic farm, and a couple of years ago they gave us a bunch of lamb, and beef they raised, but it all tasted off. It was organic grass fed. I've been doing some reading and there's some interesting things i have found out.

1% oil this morning during the morning peak. With a total demand of 15k MW, that’s an instantaneous 150 MW produced from oil or about 12k gallons per hour. Enough to fuel 800-1200 big rigs for an hour or run the oil boilers in 12,000 homes on the coldest days for an hour.. not helping the diesel supply..

29% from oil this morning. Burning Diesel to generate 4220 MW of electricity. Over 300,000 gallons per hour. We are sooooo screwed.

I split a cow with a friend last year and had to buy another chest freezer to fit everything. I still have a lot of beef left. Its like Christmas morning every time I move something around and find a stack of hidden ribeyes lol. One of the best things I did was group all of the cuts together and placed them in plastic bags so they were pretty organized but I did end up with 93# of ground beef and some of the bags tore so I do have to do a little digging through the ground to pull out a roast or steak. Well worth the $5/lb I paid.

I've had some organic beef that was a little off tasting. IDK if its because I'm used to grain fed or if it was just wasnt up to par.

2 years ago I bought an entire pig and had the processor split it right down the middle and butchered it myself. I dont remember the yield but it was something I'd do again but this time I'll ask to processor to cut it into primals for me and I'll go to work from there.

I also load up on chicken thighs when BJs has them on sale for .99 cents/lb.
