They don't look like they'd be hard to make, but this one looks cheaper than building one 25' 3/8'' Economy Copper Wort Chiller
Got me another porter rolling now... first time for this recipe... hopefully it's as good as it looks and taste currently... .... OG just came out to 1.080, with some Nottingham yeast, all should be good...
The Hops are going to town this year.... they surpassed where they grew last year... Hopefully might get a few off them this year... Thanks again...@paul bunion....
Happy HomeBrewers Day to all you home brewers out there... did you all do anything? Me just cleaned keg, keg lines and put 3 slot manifold in the kegerator this morning.... now I'm drinking some...
Bottled my Goats Milk induced with vanilla beans & Oak cubes... Paul bunion - when do you recommend to pick my Hops? My understanding is to cut them back to about 2 to 3' off the ground this year? And what kind were they again?
I believe they were Cascade. Mine never came back, although it was late summer when I transplanted so it was a long shot.
Cascades. You should clean the leaves up two or three feet. Cut the vines completely back in the fall. Harvest when they are kind of drying on the vine before they turn brown. They'll have a dry paper like feel as opposed to a wet spongy flower feeling. The difficult part is the upper cones will be ripe before the bottom.
Round one mash is going.... going for a Breakfast Stout... then followed up by a imperial double IPA...
So is this brew in bag style? I'd like to get away from extract and go all grain but it's a big step. Side note, we made a killer New England IPA, if it's your style I can send the recipe. It's like the Burlington VT style that is pretty popular round these parts, a nice floral and mellow not so bitter IPA.
Yes, its brew in the bag... I know when I originally switched I thought this was a pain and it wasn't worth the effort. But it is really easy, with a few tools of the trade, plus the more you do it, the easier it become.... I did 11 gallons in about 10 hours with two cleanups... The plus its all grain with out all the extra equipment. Sure go ahead and send me that NE IPA... and when you get to all grain let me know I'll get you some recipes...
Well, I've had a dry streak... But these last two weeks have been too cold... to brew outside in the garage ... The weather finally got more mild. So I'll be heading outside here in a bit to fire up the burner to hopefully get 11 gallons today done.
Bourbon Vanilla Imperial Porter... 38.5 lbs of Grains.... dang that wet Grains are a weee bit heavy...
I'm aiming for 1.095. And a FG around 1.025 ... that should give about 9.1% alcohol... the Preboil hit 1.070... Yes.... it's smells wonderful...Look up Denny BVIP for a run down of the recipe.... I've tweaked it a bit... but it's smooth...
