Sure did! I don’t think Scotty Overkill planned on such a dirty thread here. Great job, looks like Poseidon’s Fork there!

Having watched Scotty climb a tree at well seasoned GTG. It is a true art!! The pics are great but seeing it in person is amazing.

Scotty Overkill I'm wondering what you are thinking about that tree. It's been my observation that when a tree branches out like that with more than one main trunk up top, there was probably some ice or wind damage. Usually ice.

I think your right Dennis. Looks like the tree got "topped" or had damage to its dominant leader at some point in its life. That caused the branches at the next node down to become codominant leaders and effectively become the top. Generally an undesirable situation.

But if they are small, how about a Christmas tree. You could have 3 angels on that one!

We get cedars that do that a lot. One at my parents looks like it could be very good at making a base for a treehouse. It just comes up one way about 25ish feet and then forks out like 5 different ways. They tend to bough out like elephant tusks. Interesting kind of tree.

I doesn't tend to be as much of a problem with evergreens, but can be a real problem with urban/suburban hardwoods. Particularly the maple family.

You are right Barcroftb. When it happens here it is no problem but for those urban dwellers it is a different story.

btw, did you get that tree cut up behind your house or is it still a playground for the kids?
